What's Spinning

I have absolutely no idea what this is.
Along with all of the world albums, as well as the Whitehouse and Wolf Eyes albums I have spun recently, this was in the stack of records that a friend was giving away. Let’s find out what I’m working with.

EDIT: Okay, in case any of you were actually wondering:

SHIT - it was a low-pitched occasionally pulsing drone for about 8 minutes; very pleasant, but that's about it
OLDINE - simple guitars and drums, reminded me a lot of early American Football believe it or not
TAMAGAWA - for fans of the band Earth... or, imagine Sunn O)) with synth drones
B*TONG - sound collage noise, in vein with Wolf Eyes

So...do you recommend it? :-)

Ugh. I bought these reissues as the previous new XTC reissues have been great. These were hyped to be new cuts from Jason Mitchell and that's why I picked them up....but nope - represses of the 2010 reissues. Which I already have. I waited for 4 months of shipping issues to get records I essentially already have.

XTC As The Dukes Of Stratosphear ‎– Psurroundabout Ride

I do have another update for this release...as it was in the package that was shipped back and forth from UK/Portland/Washington DC.

I emailed Burning Shed and they first told me that they were marketed as new cuts and couldn't possible be wrong.

Here is their message to me....

Thanks for your email.

I’ve gone back and looked at the original sales notes from Declan Colgan who runs the APE label with Andy Partridge and they clearly say:

"Cut at Loud Mastering by Jason Mitchell & pressed on 200gram vinyl to satisfy the most demanding of audiophiles.”

Declan would not have put that on the sales notes that go out to every shop and press publication if it were not true.

So, they are not just represses of the 2010 releases as they have been re-cut. They have also been pressed onto 200g vinyl whereas the 2010 versions were on 180g.

My reply -

They are represses. Same "Jonz" "Loud" etched runouts that John Dent made.

Their response -

The label have said the following-

'Apologies, Shane is completely correct. Error on my part that was never corrected.
Initially, we thought the positives from John Dent's cuts were lost/with the vinyl made in a factory in Czech Republic - in which case Jason would have recut using John's notes/settings - Jason worked closely with John at the same facility - to replicate them as these were the cuts that Andy approved but we discovered to our delight that an original set of John's cuts had been sent to Vinyl Factory also which we used.
So the main difference here is the quality of the vinyl which is 200 gram rather than 180 gram which will, if used on a decent turntable, track better/more accurately (in our experience - all of these things are somewhat subjective) than 180 gram.
Fully accept that the customer bought them believing they were a different set of masters from originals & happy for you to reimburse him/deduct from payment to me as a result as he already has the previous set & he can keep both & compare.'

I will now refund your order.

I wasn't looking for a refund, but I'll take it after all the crap I went through getting these. What I didn't expect was that I got a full refund, not just the 2 LP's, but this Blu Ray, too. The 90 bucks I got back went straight to my new TV fund.

(and no, I would never tell the difference of 180g vs 200g vinyl - even with audiophile equipment)
