The Official Needles and Grooves 1001 Album Generator Project (aka Preachin’ about the Preachers if today’s selection sucks)

Nifty. This kind of reminds me of Sarah Brightman with out all the Fae pretense and, of course, Lemper doesn’t possess an unearthly soprano. The Divine Comedy provides it some edge. Qobuz has it listed as classical so it is formated as such on the album page which causes a lot of ridiculous redundancy:

It took me a minute to realize what was going on there.

I enjoyed this more than I expected. Not really my genre (cabaret/chanson/variety type stuff is almost in the same depths of distress as prog in my book), but I liked some of the arrangements and she has a nice voice. And I was actually one of the few here who didn’t hate Divine Comedy last time, and they’re fine here too. I can’t fathom them getting three entries in the book including this, though. That’s the same number Elvis, Prince and Iggy has for example. That’s crazy talk.

This is a good introduction to Kurt Weill:

Tom Waits' version of "What Keeps Mankind Alive?" is one of my absolute favourite things he's recorded.
I can’t deny the genius of Kurt Weill, although I have a hard time listening to this genre spontaneously. I love when Tom Waits dabble in the genre though. But then, he’s Tom Waits and can do whatever he wants and it turn into solid gold. (Checked and Waits has five entries in the book. Thank god for that at least)

Checks index… I have to listen to those fuckers again?

10/10 no notes.

One of the records I am constantly keeping an eye out for. It’s always beat to fuck or OVERPRICED. It’s also in that category where I don’t want to fuck with the cogs on it.
