I wasn’t familiar until you posted this just now and haven’t listened yet but…Listened to The Dare because I wanted to see if it was something that I missed out on from this year and I had to stop after 3 songs. It's actually horrible, like so bad
yeah wtf. the reviewer must have been allowed free reign for their words but the editors must have wanted it to be given a mostly fair rating because of rea$ons. That reads like a 2.6 rating, not 6.2.I wasn’t familiar until you posted this just now and haven’t listened yet but…
…I am old enough to remember when an evisceration like this woulda resulted in a 0.04 album rating.
I didn't like it either as I thought he was a James Murphy imposter but some folks on here actually dig itListened to The Dare because I wanted to see if it was something that I missed out on from this year and I had to stop after 3 songs. It's actually horrible, like so bad

Great list!!The 50 Best Albums Of 2024
The death of the album has been proclaimed many times, and after decades of piracy and point-and-click listening, cohesive bodies of work have indeed lost some of their cultural stature. Yet the long player remains a meaningful art form, the gold standard breathlessly anticipated by fan bases...www.stereogum.com
Why are all these lists putting brat at number one

I have never listened to it but this is probably weighed into a lot of these rankings more than a lot of us would think or assume should.no other album captured the popular zeitgeist this year like brat did
brat could have been released directly into the bargain bin for all I care and it wouldn't change the fact it's a great album. Charli XCX has always been an acquired taste and I don't expect everyone to like her or brat but in reading a year-end list surely you have to expect you're not going to agree with every single choice? It just seems a bit unfair to me that an artist who has been putting out consistently good work for years is getting accused of only placing on year-end lists now due to stupid trends and hype rather than the simple fact that she put out what is arguably her best record this year.I have never listened to it but this is probably weighed into a lot of these rankings more than a lot of us would think or assume should.
