It's a solid debut album!I’m really enjoying the English Teacher record! Wasn’t expecting much.

The new single Colorful State out today is one of the standout tracks, but also gives a good sense of what the entire album holds musically. My initial reaction to the album was, "Kishi made his ELO album." So then it wasn't surprising to read in the description that he was inspired by ELO, along with other 70s/80s bands. This one is big and funky. There is a long sax solo in one of the tracks! So yeah, I agree @TrainFan73 that it will be fun to see how he pulls it off live.New Kishi Bashi is fucking amazing. I can not wait to listen to the vinyl when it shows up. I am so hyped and hope he isn’t hitting the triangle during my vacation in October because I really want to see what he does with this live.
It’s very high concept/dystopian and the absolute most fun I have had listening to a record all year long. I am sure I will only grow to love more with each listen. I was shaking my ass while taking the trash to the front. (It was dark but same would have happened if it was noon)
This is the first thing that is probably neck and neck with Amaro Freitas for AOTY so far.
