Day 9: Most Valuable

Frank Ocean - Blond

View attachment 79604

Sometimes having a job where I have to get up super early the day after Thanksgiving pays off

I was (and still am) lukewarm to Blonde but the hype almost caused me to purchase it for around $30 like 2 or 3 times that day. I had it in my basket but never pulled the trigger. It’s one of the few times I regret FOMO not actually winning out.
I pulled the trigger back on the release date after the hype build-up convinced me to get it. I'm not a massive fan of the album, I prefer Channel Orange, and when it arrived it was already going for silly money so I kept it sealed. I sold it a few months ago after I was offered a price higher than the highest sold on discogs. Ended up buying a Project VC-S2 ALU record cleaning machine with the money AND had money left over which paid for myself and my girlfriend to go away on holiday. It staggers me that a piece of vinyl (which isn't even that old) could warrant that amount.

Day 7: Cool Story, Bro

It's not a very good story...and I've got a few better ones - one is saved for a later day - the other story isn't worth spinning.

This is a "Cool Score, Bro"

I found this double "RL cut" at a thrift store - per this post in the Audiokarma forum.

I had thought this was acquired in a much better story, as I got quite a stack of albums years ago when I lived in Illinois free by a dumpster.

Day 8: Strangs

I searched my collection on Discogs to see what features the fiddle - and then picked something I haven't played in a while.

Day 10 - First Day of Hanukah

KISS "KISS" (1974 Casablanca; 2014 reissue)

I'm going with Gene Simmons and KISS today. Oddly enough this has some ties to the holidays for me. I had a cousin that was a massive KISS fanatic. Living in a different town than my parents' families, we usually only saw my aunts, uncles and cousins a few times a year. Christmas was usually at this cousin's house and he pretty much always spun his KISS records, so... KISS is essentially tied to my childhood holiday memories.

I think the Paul Stanley is a member of the tribe also.
