December 2020 Challenge Thread: Let's Go Out With A Bang (The return of the raffle!)

Day 12: Wildcard
Pick your own theme for today and explain why

Theme: The Blind Buy

I am a planner by nature so I very rarely buy media I haven't better first or at least have a good idea about. However, I was at a new to me record store and got a wild hair about me and just...grabbed it. Domt know quite why but it felt right. It also addresses a bit of a gap in my collection. It could use a good cleaning but it's found a home

Joni Mitchell - Court and Spark

Day 13: Soul Sunday!
Kick back and relax to some of that sweet sweet soul music

Ann Peebles - I Can't Stand the Rain

Day 11 - Wildcard
Overlooked in 2020
Edit: whoops this came out in late 2019... the vinyl was released this year

William Patrick Corgan - Cotillions

Trust me, I get why so many are resistant to just about anything Billy Corgan releases these days, but this is a record I personally just keep going back to. Pretty different from any of his other stuff.

Day 12: Wildcard (Theme -> Album I Didn't Expect to Enjoy on First Listen)

Lana Del Rey - Norman Fucking Rockwell!

She's a social media nightmare. She has made ubiquitous questionable decisions just this year alone. She had been off my radar for many years starting from Born To Die and her music had never resonated with me.
But this album...it clicked. It feels like her first truly good album and didn't stick to amd rely on the previous tropes of her music. It is a modern day singer/songwriter album firing on all cylinders.
Agree ..listened again recently..it’s a great album..maybe her best along with Ultraviolence
