Day 6 – I’m Not In Love
Play an album/artist/genre you were really into for a while. Or from a rabbit hole you dove into for a while.

I was late to the Grateful Dead. I had friends who listened to them in high school, but it just never clicked with me. I finally owned a few records because of my infamous Dumpster find, but even then I really didn't listen to them at all.

2010 was when I finally started to listened to them regularly - mostly because American Beauty got me to listen to the rest of them. (by way of Freaks And Geeks) ...And then the rabbit hole started. Luckily in the early 10's, one could still find cheap GD albums in thrift stores that weren't beat to hell.

I didn't go as deep in to the rabbit hole to need to get all the various RSD box sets, but deep enough to pick up multiple pressings of some of the albums. As someone that really doesn't like live albums, I'm more of a fan of their studio releases.

Was very happy to see this AAA was recently repressed.

Day 7 – I Want You Back
Play something you haven’t played in a long time. And dance around like baby Groot.

I haven't played this since 2018...and I don't dance, but will nod my head to the music.

The band really burned me out in 2017.

Day 8 – Come And Get Your Love
Hey (hey) what's the matter with you, feel right? Don't you feel right, baby?
Ok, so you’re this really cool adventurer and you’re navigating with finesse and style through an ancient temple filled with traps to get an ancient artifact. Play your soundtrack.

Uncharted 2: Among Thieves (Original Soundtrack)

This is too easy lol. Quite literally the major plot point of much of the Uncharted games. Also one of my favorite video game franchises.

For those unfamiliar, here's gameplay from one of the climbing chapters in my favorite entry in the series:

I wish I had athleticism like Nathan Drake does in that gameplay tho

Strangely, as soon as I read today's theme, the music from Blue Rondo A La Turk by The Dave Brubeck Quartet started playing in my head.

Hey (hey) what's the matter with you, feel right? Don't you feel right, baby? - adventure, excitement, a Jedi craves not these things..

DJ Shadow - The Private Press - look I'm not sure how cool my adventures are going to be but with this soundtrack I think I have a lot of ups and downs covered!

Stevie Wonder "Songs In The Key Of Life" (1976 Motown, Japanese pressing)
Going along with Starlord on this and using something funky with youthful exuberance. "I Wish" would perfectly soundtrack my adventures as I deftly navigate through ancient traps. Because extremely nimble I am (in my mind). I'd sneak out the backdoor and "hang out" with those hoodlum friends of mine trying to catch me. But you know I'll get the artefact! I wish those days would come back once more.

I first heard Rock The Casbah when it was getting airplay in 82. I went out and bought the cassette and loved it, though some of the style mashups threw me. A few weeks later my buddies older brother played London Calling for me and my world changed.

I feel like a motorik beat would make for a nice soundtrack to the aforementioned Indiana Jones-esque sequences that was described. The building driving tension the beat creates would work well with elevating anxious suspense created by this moment.

Excellent prompt today. I brought it up to my family last night and we had a really good discussion around it. Took most of us awhile to come up with something, except my wife who immediately went with Van Halen ~ Jump.

I had 3-4 choices as to what would be good for an action sequence, much like Come and Get Your Love was used in Guardians or Immigrant Song in Thor Ragnorak, and figured Social D's take on Ring of Fire would work well with it's punk take on a song everyone knows and imagery that would be easy to fit into a movie.

Guardians of The Galaxy Lego Advent Calendar Interlude!

Day 8 - And so, it did turn out to be that kind of party! Rocket pulled out one of his big guns and started roasting a turkey. Because nothing says Guardians of The Galaxy more than a turkey! Thanks Lego! Great idea for door #8! Rocket also has the stuffing ready in his other hand.

Like “Come And Get Your Love” in the movie, “Bonny” was not chosen because of the lyrical content but more because it sounds great through a Walkman while you’re doin something.

Love that track! Listening to Destroyer's Kaputt always reminds me of this.

I’m not in love, so don’t forget it. It’s just a silly phase I’m going through.

I've always kinda dug BÖC but finally rabbit-holed deep and hard about five years ago when I started to pick up a handful of their albums on CD before finally just dropping the duckets on the complete Columbia years box set which received near continuous play in my car for a couple of years. I never really climbed out of this rabbit hole, honestly, and have been slipping back in, in fact, building my BÖC vinyl library and finally obtaining their late-era studio albums on CD. This has long been on of my favourite Cult releases (it's not a proper album, per se, and has quite the convoluted saga to it) which I finally got on vinyl today, thanks in part to @scotthilk's Discogs rebate PIF over PIFsgiving. The cover has seen some water, but the vinyl itself looked damn near unplayed!
I've seen those guys a few times, and super fun. A good buddy has them as his all time fave band, so I get dragged along. Not the worst thing!

I got to see them for the first and (so far) only time at a classic rock festival in North Vancouver in 2019. Quiet Riot played before them and was a lot more fun than I expected, but the Cult was fantastic. Obviously a lot less lasers than in their prime, but very tasteful and solid for a "legacy act." I was very impressed. On the ferry back to the island the next day I bought a last-minute ticket to see "Weird Al" with the symphony orchestra - those were my last two shows until Delvon Lamarr Organ Trio and Cha Wa this past July.

Day 7 – I Want You Back
Oh darlin', I was blind to let you go (Let you go, baby). But now since I've seen you it is on (I want you back). Oh I do now (I want you back). Ooh ooh baby (I want you back). Yeah yeah yeah yeah. (I want you back).

Soccer Mommy - Color Theory

Been way too long sing I played this one, but glad I am now!
