Definitive Audiophile pressings

Here's one for you @MikeH ... I'll be interested to hear how this sounds when it comes out. Cut should be excellent as always. But the pressing information only says "Pressed in the USA"... that could mean anything and it's not necessarily good.

not familiar with this band but i'll give it a listen. thanks!

that's probably why he doesn't seem as mad as he would have been if it was an ERC release or something instead of something for charity 😂
he's also unabashedly a big Lana fan with the pocket change to back that up. he was destined to be disappointed.

Nice slice of franco-indie pop. I have the cd somewhere

Like I said, I went deep on TT/Hollis this year!

A couple of reads if you're interested.

New Mark Hollis biography out this year as well:

well the last 4 are sublime, no doubt .
Talk Talk/Hollis may have a near-perfect catalog. And I'll thumb-wrestle anyone who disagrees.
Yeah, i couldn't co-sign a near-perfect CATALOG.

Sublime (if that's the word we're using): Spirit of Eden, Laughingstock
Great: Colour of Spring
Good: It's My Life
Ok: The Party's Over

It kind of reminds me of Japan. Their first two albums are meh. But when they shook off their glam inspirations and hit us w/ Quiet Life, it was on. By the time they got to Tin Drum (and later RTC) they were a whole different group.

Same w/ Talk Talk. Sure, Mark Hollis had his own flavor but he was still cooking in the same synthpop/new wave kitchen as so many contemporaries. By Colour of Spring, TT had created a new menu. With SoE, Hollis & Co had invented a whole new cuisine.

Forgive being mired in an analogy. In summary, not a near-perfect catalog. I'll be over here warming up the 'ol pollex.

Yeah do that and play it loudish in a dark room . he basically took it as far as possible with stripping everything away and it was recorded with basically 2 room mic's . Have you read the Phill Brown book ?
I love TT, but found the Hollis solo album nearly impenetrable. I might see if I can find a CD copy and give it another go, I do love LS and SoE.

Yes, He worked with them on SoE-MH, real insight into the recording and making of those albums, He also worked with a lot of other Late 60's -70's artists, great storyteller /Engineer . the books called Are We Still Rolling ?Are We Still Rolling?: Studios, Drugs and Rock 'n' Roll - One Man's Journey Recording Classic Albums: Studios, Drugs and Rock 'n' Roll Ä One Man's Journey Recording Classic Albums - Phill Brown | 0884088508739 | Amazon.com.au | Books
