Definitive Audiophile pressings

Of course... I just couldn't help poking fun at the apparent lack of perfection, which could, you know, shatter ideals. ;)

I'm also more curious about Meters reissues than Wipers (but both are interesting).
No jokes allowed about BoomBoom! šŸ˜‚

I think jackpot has done wipers already so the initial announcement was a bit confusing! Definitely interested in the Meters reissues. Said they are from tapes from Warner šŸ˜ Jackpot has signed some deals with Warner apparently so excited to see what they come out with. I think they are a fairly underrated reissue label

Hmmm really wish it were the Josie albums, unless those are under the Warner umbrella too? No idea where the reprise records sit either.

Details??
It just sounds fantastic. Very full and dynamic with zero static. the jacket and packaging are a bit bare bones but the album came in a poly lined inner. I am very happy with it.

Thanks! I was mostly just wondering who released it and whether this is the one I've seen floating around in the wild. Apparently it is. Good to know!

Hmm. I wasnā€™t planning to pick up any of those reissues but your review makes me wonder whether I should dip in for Countdown. But I canā€™t imagine Aja sounding much better than any given pressing of it already does.

I think Steely Dan OG's are usually done exceptionally well but if you don't already have a clean copy they can take some effort to find at a cheaper price than these reissues but these are done really well and are an easier and cheaper path to a great vinyl copy.

I need to check my copy of canā€™t buy a thrill and see how clean it is. That one in particular is real hard to find at a good price and clean

Iā€™m lucky enough to have NM copies of everything through Gaucho. The only one that doesnā€™t sound exceptional is Katy Lied, but that was an issue with the original recording equipment getting damaged. Chad, in a sit down with BG, even said that the cuts BG did didnā€™t blow him out of the water like other releases do when comparing the OGs, simply because the OGs are so good. I imagine theyā€™ll become easier to find with these new releases.

IMO Aja (ā€œABā€ cut) and Gaucho sound the best. It will be REALLY hard to top those.

Well despite the final 3 songs sounding just awful due to the fake stereo thing they did to it, I managed to grab a NM- Mofi Magical Mystery Tour for $45USD shipped. The rest of the album sounds so incredible (to me) that I just needed to get it in my collection.

Have you heard the Cisco cut of Aja?
