Definitive Audiophile pressings

The UHQR Steely Dan "Can't Buy A Thrill" sounds great on my system. I have a 70's ABC pressing, and I previously owned the Speakers Corner with the tape drag (which, despite the tape drag, was a really wonderful sounding record). This UHQR is really well done. I understand that some might be disappointed with the cost and/or the box, but I can't imagine a fan of this record being disappointed with the mastering.

It’s really great! I think every song is better than the original issue outside of Wanna Be Startin Somethin which sounds good but MJ’s voice is a touch back in the mix it seems. The clarity of the mix is stunning and my record is completely noise free.

Just got my copy. The In Groove dude is right, this thing sounds amazing. I don't know if you guys saw his review, but he seems to own dozens of pressings of this album, and the upshot is that there are two essential pressings in the lot. The original US pressing and the MOFI (he says the original Japanese pressing likely uses the US plates and is amazing as well, but more pricy than the US). Anyway, he says the original US has the standard compressed dance sound while the MOFI removes the compression and is more open and dynamic. So each have their strengths.

Anyway, I played through several of the tracks and it's superb. Vinyl is dead silent and the mix is enveloping. I heard a few things in Billie Jean I never noticed before as well.

I just called them. I was worried about the same thing. I've had a backorder on this for 2+ years. They mentioned they just got it in the system today and will try and allocate oldest to newest. They made it seem like they didn't have enough stock to fill the backorders they already have. FWIW.

They just marked my new order as shipped and my April order is still open. So... I'm happy but that's not great

Mine just did the swap from UPS to USPS today - so I won't get it until Friday.

Don’t tempt me and my drunkenness right now ;)
Ha. Yeah I was skeptical with the price but it's one of my favorite albums from highschool.
Released on the day I turned 15.

They nailed it. IMO
If it's not AAA, then I can't tell the difference with this one. It sounds really good.

I can't compare it to the recent 1 LP Bellman cut, but I think JJ Golden did a great job cutting the box set.

My test. I turn off tone controls and just let it go raw.
Would be tempted to see what CB did.

The percussion holds up nicely along with bass guitar.
Creep just sounds great
