Definitive Audiophile pressings

Does anyone have a lead where the Indie version of New Order’s Substance is available online in the US? All my usual go-tos are OOS.

A few mentioned they didn’t get their full shipment so I assume this may come back in stock in a few weeks, but don’t really want to risk it if I can find it reasonably priced.

I think it was a short run. The guy in my local was telling me that he had sold out on pre orders and only had the black to sell in shop last Friday.

Ask @Plaid Room / Colemine if they're getting anymore. I bet they'll hold a copy for you if they are. Or sign up for a notification on their website when it comes back in stock.

Reissue has a bit more bass "oomph" per some reviews on Discogs. I've never heard an OG copy so cannot comment, but the reissue definitely didnt sound thin to me.

I missed the reason why people are looking for the colored version over the black vinyl? Do they sound different or have different pressing characteristics? Or is it just collectability? In my case, since I already have an original, the best bet would be just to wait it out and grab a black vinyl copy when the price is right.

It is purely collectability. The industry has learned that 'variants' increase sales. It's as simple as that.

Although colored vinyl has greatly improved in the last few years, it is still inferior to black vinyl. If you want the music, IMO black vinyl is the gold standard. That's why 'audiophile' labels use only black vinyl.

Supposedly there are pressing concerns with the black. Likely they use the same plates and were done at the same facility and defects are a percentage of both. My black copy is on its way and I will report back.

There has also been some talk of the black sounding more digitized… I think this is likely people not realizing the nature of this music. A drum machine does not sound like Phil Collins or John Bonham.

The reason I'm specifically looking for the color version is that there are numerous reports of unplayable edge warps on the black pressing which doesn't seem to have occurred on the colored one. I ain't looking to deal with that so indie exclusive it is.

My colour one has an edge warp but it’s trackable. Thinking about it I can’t remember the last record I got that didn’t have some sort of edge warp on it. Thankfully the Hana SL rides them fine unless they’re outrageous.

Yeah I mean in general I can usually track edge warps ok, especially with the clamp but they're definitely the hardest ones to get rid of with the flattener. But to this day I've only ever had one record actually skip due to a warp, and that was the Bahaus VMP Bela Legosi.

This isn't necessarily true across the board.
Nothing is. But look at MOFI, Impex, AP, Music matters, Tone Poet, Speakers Corner, Classic, Sam, etc etc. etc. - all black.

ORG does colored sometimes but they would no longer be considered a pure audiophile label.
