Definitive Audiophile pressings

Playing the first record off that ZZ Top Rhino high-fidelity and it's really damn good. Like really really good. Great separation and super crankable.

Should be fun to get through the rest of the box. I'll post an opinion of the Tres Hombres vs the VMP when I get a chance.

I also should have the AP Atlantic 75 STP Purple in a day or two (@Mather did you order that from John, he just got them in - contact him if you want it shipped).
I was so impressed with that first album that I decided to roll the dice on a $20 OG on eBay.
Received my OG of the ZZ Top First Album yesterday.
It happens to be stamped Bell Sound and initialed by Sam Feldman.
Pretty clean vinyl overall, especially for $20 delivered.

The seller threw in some bonus free albums too.
OG of Tejas and Eliminator and both play pretty well. The later album being almost pristine.
Tejas is the L. Nix Ardent cut and Eliminator is an RL Masterdisk.

Here's my initial AB on the ZZT First Album.
The RHF has an incredible soundstage and it just jams so damn good.
That's where it shines.
The Feldman sounds very close but a little tamer.
I compared "Brown Sugar".
KG gives a grand, heavy soundstage. Great clarity and separation like normal.
The OG strings and cymbal sound a little more natural and realistic.
KGs cut gets a little piecing when Gibbons solo is ending in the beginning.

I'll get some more time on Tejas comparisons later.
The OG sounds really good on my first spin. Viva Tejas! Is in the deadwax.
That center label is way too cool. It makes the RHF center label look like a poser.

I'm so torn on the labels. On one hand, I like when reissue labels are different and indicate what pressing it is so I can easily identify it. But maybe this is more for buying on the second hand market....on the other hand so many cool OG labels that would look great on new reissues.

I'm over the RHF center label.
Maybe it reminds me of their sleezy fomo tactics.
I like how the jazz reissues keep it real and there are some beautiful ones like Pacific Jazz.

I have the first two - originals.....they both sound amazing.
But past those two albums, i do not have a big interest in them.
