Definitive Audiophile pressings

Nathan ma man... Almost every damn VMP drop these days is GZ for $45. I cannot do this. I grabbed LNT Khruangbin but that was partially because it's was MPO... Who I trust immeasurably more than GZ.
mmmm I have to agree with you there. GZ Media is just so inconsistent unfortunately. They are disappointing really...😔

amazing VMP
Dude....if you want to follow your own advice and save some $, I got ya.

For $15/mo (cheaper than VMP) I will send you a weekly video of me performing an AMAZING magic trick, to include but not limited to:

- pulling coins from behind ears
- pulling my thumb in half
- disappearing behind a sheet (my dogs love this one)

For $20/mo I will also reveal the secret behind the trick so you can likewise AMAZE your friends.

*DISCLAIMER: by your quoted statement you seem to have a low threshold for amazement so I feel safe advertising my world of magic as such

Act now and use the promo code PANDEMIC50 and I will charge you 50% more.

I mistakenly read the "promo code" as "Pandemico". And now I fully believe this is the greatest magician name I've ever heard of in relation to the absolute shitshow year of 2020.

So you are now officially "Pandemico". And if you don't make a goddamn tuxedo wearing rabbit turn into universal healthcare then I will never believe in anything...

So, I've had that Kind of Blue for a couple years and it is superb. But is the restock/repress (whatever it is) kind of weird? Isn't there supposed to be a One Step of KoB in the future?
UHQR, not a one step. Different company. Still no preorder or street date for it either so it’ll be interesting to see if/when it actually comes out. The MoFi was never out of print—just waiting on a repress

I'm looking really forward to the UHQR release of Kind Of Blue! I cannot wait to grab it and I feel confident it will sound better than the MoFi 45RPM pressing I have! I still in some ways prefer spinning my Music On Vinyl (MOV) pressing of Kind Of Blue mores than the MoFi one!

No 🙈

But.....they're so expensive, pressed at QRP and I expect them to sound incredible! I'm expecting the UHQR 2xLP 45RPM pressing of Kind of Blue to be one of, if not the best sounding pressing I will acquire! 🤞🙉
If you already have the 2x45 I would give it some thought on the One Step KoB. I've bought a lot of the One Steps (BOTT, Gaye, Fragile, Monk's Dream, Ah Um) over the years (and the Axis Bold as Love QRP UHQR).

For some of the records I have multiple of, they are the best pressing I have; for some, it's debatable. Honestly, the Sterling all-analogue REs of Axis (mono/stereo) are almost, if not as, good as the UHQR (albeit w/ different qualities) and asks if the $100 vs. $20 (keeping in mind you won't get it for retail anymore) was worth it.

I actually prefer my non-One Step of Yes' Fragile from 2016 (Kevin Gray, analogue master).

So, having already paid ~$60 for the 2LP 45RPM MOFI will it be worth paying $125 for another 2LP 45PRM from MOFI? Will it be remastered, superior engineers working on it; or just different laquers and 'roided up vinyl??? I haven't made up my mind myself yet. I just think these are good questions to ask. 'Cause most likely they'll be gone before release date and anyone gets the chance to compare the two. Right now, I'm, personally, leaning toward not picking it up. I have the MOFI, another Columbia pressing, and the MOFI SACD. At some point, I have to throw my hands up. Then again, when it's in my shopping cart and it's just so easy to click checkout - well, that's a different story.

Expensive doesn't necessarily mean incredible, but I'm looking forward to it too. I'm not one for chasing incremental upgrades on most albums. If I have an AP, I won't really go after a MoFi of the same album, etc. But I will potentially sell my MoFi KoB if I end up buying the UHQR.

I did just read that supposedly the UHQR is the plates from the Classic Records KoB reissue but not sure that's 100% confirmed yet. It is NOT a MoFi release--it's AP. Not saying it's worth buying both if you already have the MoFi, but it will be different sounding.

That's what they count on - people clicking checkout, on yet another super duper, guaranteed to be the best sounding EVER, reissue of a simple three track recording that everybody on earth has bought at least 3, 4 or 5 times.
I have the MFSL KOB. I'm done. I have the Grundman Classic Axis - done. I have the superbly done EH stereo Axis. Done.
I also have the AP Fragile. Fantastic, and on one vinyl. For this record more than any other, that is essential to me. Finished.
I try to avoid jumpin down that rabbit hole.

This is mostly where I'm at with it. My ears aren't good enough to notice tiny differences between some pressings. If I have a quiet pressing that sounds good of an album, I don't find the need to rush out and buy the next new pressing of it. Sometimes if it's an album I truly love, my curiosity will get the best of me, but that's few and far between. I'm more likely to sell an older copy to buy a different pressing if that happens.

After listening to Disc 1 I can say that yes, One Steps sound good. I mean not $230 CAD good. But good. I don't see myself buying another one, especially considering Mofis care with packaging this supposedly high end one literally omitted 2 parts of a basically 5 part package. But what did I expect? Look at me, sitting here expecting things, silly me...
