Definitive Audiophile pressings

Had to grab this one from music direct a few weeks ago even though it is fairly similar to the recent Carnegie Hall release. I really need to to conserve shelf space but they are both so good.
I faced the reverse choice when I bought Carnegie Hall (already had Massey). Massey Hall is in my pantheon of all-time albums, but I don’t regret buying CH. I think MH is clearly better than CH (based on my personal tastes), but they’re both fantastic.

There’s probably a better thread for this, but I’m gonna put this here for two reasons: 1. It sounds amazing; and 2. I learned about it from the 45rpmAudiophile YouTube channel.

As of tonight (US west coast), there are 14 of 500 copies left of Air I (You), a 1993 ambient album by Pete Namlock that’s never been on vinyl and never will be repressed. I cannot recommend it highly enough if you are into ambient/electronic. Mostly instrumental w some French vocals on some tracks.

The album cover is gorgeous, as well, if you care about that sort of thing (I do).

Yikes! That's a lot of coin!

Does @Rip_City know about this one? Seems like something he’d be up for.

You think this Japanese pressing is better than the mono box pressing? Anywhere in the states to source this?

I saw it on Deep Discount a few years back when I was looking for the MofI (and left it too late). So you might be able to find somewhere else, but in the UK I just ordered ac copy from Zaavi, looks like they have a US store front as well. (not necessarily cheap, but cheaper than the MoFi).

edit - I can't comment on how it sounds compared the mono box, but I'm hoping it sounds great.

You don't really need this unless you have most of the releases @RHANDMJ mentioned. I absolutely love Blakey but there are so many others I will continue to spin over this one. Moanin, Indestructible, Free for All, Buhaina, Caravan, Freedom Rider, etc.
So I'll offer a gently contrasting opinion. Check out the cut of Moanin' on streaming. There is a joy of seeing a top band work through some things live in a set -- side note, I think that Shorter takes a 5+ minutes to find his voice and pace at the open of the set, it (my opinion) isn't his best. But Lee Morgan is pushing the bad hard on Moanin' -- pace, tight tight register and runs. I love and own great copies of the originals -- and sets like this allow me to hear those originals differently and with fresh ears.

For example, this is a great set --;with okay sound quality given the venue, etc -- but with crackling energy and semi grey maker pressings...and it cooks

So I would 100% support it not being the first record you buy, but hearing the artists explore, create, and work through ideas adds a special aspect to jazz

Caveat: one of my favorite records in Coltrane at the half note.... Which is definitely not for everyone...so take my note with all the value of the random comment on the internet. :)

This one is FANTASTIC.
Just grabbed it. Thanks!

Think I snagged the last one.

The sound quality on all the Neil stuff is so great. I got this a few weeks ago too and find myself spinning this and Carnegie a lot.
I would say I slightly prefer Carnegie Hall over Massey Hall. But they are different records of course, sets, halls, audience, etc. Great two have both though now.

thought this was cancelled and made a supervinyl instead? now it looks like theres a one step as well.

most of the upcoming one steps are listed now as "coming soon" on mofi's site

Looks like you can preorder many of the announced One-Steps now online at MusicDirect website. I just went to call in a preorder and the CS rep noted they were now up on the MD site.
