Definitive Audiophile pressings

Haha! I added a $30 album to my Soultrane order today to save myself the $8.39 shipping fee. I looked at it as an $8.39 discount on the $30 album.....or something like that. :p
That’s my logic! I grabbed a copy of this album which I’ve been meaning to get. Checked now and it’s now backordered so maybe I got the last copy….

Working with Artone Studio, and located above Record Industry pressing plant in Haarlem, Netherlands, Night Dreamer specialises in direct-to-disc recordings – the process by which music is cut onto acetate from single-take live performances, without interference: Neumann microphone to Neumann lathe. From there, it is simply ‘walked downstairs’ to the pressing plant.

Pretty crazy process (I think BoomBoom said his studio will offer this service too…)

Sounds wild. I got this one: Vinyl Records, SACDs, DVD Audio, Audiophile Equipment|Acoustic Sounds

Listened to a bit and liked the sound, plus it's also supposed to be some unique kind of audiophile binaural recording. Here's an article about it:

Good tip!

I typically order the AS series and some Tone Poets via Amazon. Free shipping and usually a few bucks discount vs list pricing.

Lately they've shipped a single record in a mailer and the mailer within a box. So it's been working out well for me.
Some great prices, deals, and camaraderie on this stuff on the Paladin Byers Club thread. Check it out in the members only section.

I’d probably just stick with my OGs if you’re happy with how they sound! I know that doesn’t really answer your question though haha. Not sure who else here has clean OGs and the bellmans but maybe someone else can be or more help!
I picked up a few of the reissues from the first box. They smoke my clean originals. Already dumped the originals. Damn these are great.

Craft Recordings is releasing their first Contemporary 70th reissue with an Ornette Coleman box:

i like the sound of this one!
  • Both albums were recorded by Contemporary Records' legendary engineer Roy DuNann and are newly mastered from the original tapes by Bernie Grundman
  • 180-gram vinyl pressed at RTI
  • Lacquers cut directly from original analog tapes to lacquer by legendary mastering engineer Bernie Grundman.

Missed another Prestige. 2 for 6 now :(

Annoying part is they put it up right after i last checked yesterday.
they seem to be put up every monday now. but monday was a holiday here so it was posted yesterday instead. i'd keep an eye out next monday.

a few things i've learned about the series in the past few days...

*some people have backordered titles and NOT gotten copies. this seemed to happen with tenor madness--it came and went and people who had placed previous backorders did not get a copy while people who bought it when it went live were shipped copies. they seem to potentially be saving some copies for sale on the site and some for backorder while pushing other backorders to the next pressing.

*it seems that AP had jackets already printed for a lot of these titles, so that's why some of there seem to be really limited numbers. apparently there were 800 jackets for Lush Life lying around. the backup at stoughton is 8 months - 1 year according to chad.

*these titles are apparently going to be repressed again, but the jackets will be a huge holdup. might not get them in until next year.

The time they put it up was later than usual, wasn't it?

Yeah, i saw the comment on SHF about his backorder not being fulfilled. Pretty lame of AS for doing that.
