Definitive Audiophile pressings

MD just charged me $49.99, and the only order I have left w/ them at that amount is Mofi “Filles De Kilimanjaro” 2x45rpm. Order is from Nov. 2020! Their pre-order policy is great bc that set is now priced @ $59.99. Order status hasn’t changed, but usually that hasn’t happened until sometime after the initial charge.

Between MFValentine, Miles in the Sky, and now, I think, FDK, Mofi seems to have kicked up production of Miles’s catalog.

Yep, I have a declined transaction from them today because of an expired debit card from when I ordered that same record in Oct 2020!

ooh i'm getting close to having all the Miles...i'll probably grab Filles if it's available soon. I have a 1971 pressing that's in pretty good shape from what I remember but not the best sounding pressing. I really love the MoFis just wish more were 33!

Ooooohhh, I would like to know how that japanese Meddle sounds. Is the catalog number EMS-80322?
It is indeed, I spun about half of the first side and honestly it was incredible. I actually said "Oh my God" out loud at one point. Now I've never had a copy of this on vinyl so I don't know how it compares to the Grundman and whatnot but I can definitely say that it sounds incredibly good. Is 80322 the one to get? I looked up some reviews before I grabbed it but I didn't do a deep dive into whether it's a sought after pressing.

This is the one:

Pink Floyd - Meddle

SOLD! From recordcity, that is. Tossed in some Santana, Stones and XTC too.

Actually, with Japanese pressings catalog numbers don't mean all that much, as every pressing is a limited edition based on order received during the solicitation period, after which there is another solicitation and when orders get high enough, it gets repressed with a new catalog number.

The lacquer marked SHVL-795 in the runout - any variations thereof - are amazing. I have OP-80375 which is amazing, and yours should be identical. Collectors value in this case seems driven mostly by whether it has Odeon or EMI labels and guessing on how many were pressed.

Nice, thanks for the info. I'm at work right now but I identified it by the orange EMI label and entirely capitalized font around the edge of the label but yes all the pressings that had this obi (that I've found on cogs) are the SHVL 795 variants and yeah wow it's something. Very impressed.

Why would you be at work this late on a Friday? Working the drive thru late shift again?

I have had that Meddle for maybe over 15 years now, after having owned it previously back in the day. There is nothing better. Echoes is just , like, oh fuck yeah, I'm just floating here and this is so mind altering, and I'm not even stoned...feel your mind melting...amazing record/pressing. The Grundman is best for elevators and supermarkets.

Yeah I can't wait to have the time to listen through the whole thing. Only got through about half of Side A earlier today.

I work at a national sports television network. So it's almost always late shifts. Which I don't mind but... also sometimes I kind of mind... especially when I want to spin records...

Do you know Don Cherry? WOW if you do. His time as the head coach of the Denver Rockies hockey club was memorable way back in the day. Always a great quote.
