It seems to me that they did a good job with the recent pressing of The Hurting and Seeds of Love, idk what the problem is with Big Chair.I liked the new remaster of seeds of love

I have this 1982 Japan copy thanks to someone’s recommendation on N&G, and I think it’s fantastic, as do the friends who’ve jeard it on my system. David Bowie = David Bowie - The Rise And Fall Of Ziggy Stardust And The Spiders From Mars = ジギー・スターダスト (Vinyl, Japan, 1982) For Sale | Discogs

I mean, it's only their best selling/best known album...why would they want to get it right? It seems to me that they did a good job with the recent pressing of The Hurting and Seeds of Love, idk what the problem is with Big Chair.
it's been a bit since I listened to the repress of The Hurting, but I don't recall any problems. Anyone else have opinions on it?I might pick up a copy of the hurting then. I've dithered on both of those titles
I have the 2014 pressing...is that the same one or is there a new version?it's been a bit since I listened to the repress of The Hurting, but I don't recall any problems. Anyone else have opinions on it?
it's very possible that the masters either don't exist or are damaged. MoFi only really did silver label from stuff that wasn't a master tape. Perhaps it's just an issue of the master being in England, but it does seem weird that it hasn't gotten an audiophile type release given its popularity and that their other reissues have solid pressings.I mean, it's only their best selling/best known album...why would they want to get it right?

plus it's so lush, it just screams to be pressed as an audiophile version.it's very possible that the masters either don't exist or are damaged. I haven't heard it as I'm satisfied with the silver label but I might grab one if I see it. I'm sure the picture disc will sound awful but that's also really cool looking
That's a good point, and I'd say the trick her might be to find a super clean og as it was recorded really well and not sure they could improve on that anyhow!it's very possible that the masters either don't exist or are damaged. If someone like Intervention did it....I bet it would sell like crazy.plus it's so lush, it just screams to be pressed as an audiophile version.
I have a list of titles in my head for Intervention - Violator, The Queen is Dead, Kick, etc etc. They would sell a ton and could be known as the 80's audiophile reissue label? The knocked it out of the park with Starfish. If someone like Intervention did it....I bet it would sell like crazy.
Shane is on hoffman forums and regularly takes suggestions on there...I requested they do Jailbreak by Thin Lizzy and he responded that he loved that album and was going to look into it. But now that VMP is doing it, no dice.I have a list of titles in my head for Intervention - Violator, The Queen is Dead, Kick, etc etc. They would sell a ton and could be known as the 80's audiophile reissue label? Shane needs to ditch those guys at Hoffman and come over here. We're cooler than they are.Shane is on hoffman forums and regularly takes suggestions on there...I requested they do Jailbreak by Thin Lizzy and he responded that he loved that album and was going to look into it. I do get the impression that he is more interested in doing some lesser known titles that need reissues as opposed to the "big hits" that need good . But who knows!
I'd add Fisherman's Blues to that listI have a list of titles in my head for Intervention - Violator, The Queen is Dead, Kick, etc etc. They would sell a ton and could be known as the 80's audiophile reissue label? The knocked it out of the park with Starfish.
I would go for this one or the copy Mike H recommended.I have this one and remember it sounding quite good:

I think most OG pressings of this one are meant to sound real great. Interesting you didn't like the MoFi--I had heard great things about it but maybe that's mostly because people spent a lot on it haha
This is the version I own. My copy is very clean and sounds great.I would go for this one or the copy Mike H recommended.
Pressed at Richmond and cut at Sterling are usually a safe bet.
