Definitive Audiophile pressings

Highly recommend this if you're a fan

curious how the MoFi compares to the version I have

Yeah AP could be nice but unlike a lot of abbey road these seem to have been mastered from tapes so I’m hopeful! Also AP is just such a pain to get hold of over here and I don’t like Chad and the way AS seem to operate.

I will do. I had been hunting for Japanese pressings but there doesn’t seem to be much about so that put me onto these. If I get around to getting any I will of course let you know!

My 2 cents.
OG US pressing is easy to find and fairly inexpensive. I bought this one (1969) because it was really too cheap to pass on. But I like it the more I spin it. It's not really one I'll grab too often.

The recording on this one is nothing I would knock and the vinyl is nice.

Two recent interviews KG and BG have both crapped on half speed mastering. I'll take their word on it. Not gonna be looking to add anything with that mastering to my collection.

Speaking of Kevin Gray, this 2014 reissue mastered/cut by KG and pressed at QRP is pretty nice.

Half speed seems more like a gimmick than automatically sounding bad. Some halfspeeds sound okay and others sound great. A bunch of old MoFis were halfspeed Stan Ricker cuts. Pretty sure Supertramp Crime of the Century MoFi is half speed. Same with Little Feat - Waiting for Columbus and many others. I’m not a huge fan of the newer Abbey Road ones because I just don’t think I love Miles Showell’s work…

Agree with your comment about Mr. Kassem. Very unpersonable in my experience.
Didn’t Classic Records put out some Who material way back when? If so, I think I have a couple that I’d let go.
Yep Classic did a few. I might be interested to see which ones you have…

But the rumors are that AP might do a UHQR of The Who using the classic records plates

I've got some ELO SR/2 cuts. They're fine for what they are ... <$5 grabs. Bernie actually talks about him in the last interview. Nothing bad and totally respectful.

I just put this one one. TML seems to always be solid with their work.
Sounds great!

I own 6-8 half speed remasters (ranging from INXS to Everything but the Girl to The Police) that sound amazing to my ears - I'll trust them

I don’t live in America. The dollar is crazy strong right now so I can’t really justify anything from there in the forseeable.

So no MoFi in your collection anymore then, interesting…
