Definitive Audiophile pressings

Wow! That's awesome! '76 or so? Original drivetrain? OEM top or Pakastani? So many questions and more pics, please! Different thread, maybe?
It's a 78 with paki top.
Pretty much all stock with a small lift.
DM me if you want to know some more.
Betting you have a cruiser also since you are out west in CO?

BTW- whoever vouched for the 75 Fleetwood Mac. It's pure fire.
Sounds crazy good. Vinyl is a little noisy but the music rocks with great low end.

Yes, I don’t know any other industry where one of the premier manufacturers/retailers would sell their own returned/damaged/flawed/leftover items at a massive premium and not be racked over the coals about it. But, in vinyl world it is just considered fair business practices given the “collectability” of the product.

You would think they were struggling and just just barely managing to pay the bills. Because if you were doing really well what little extra profit you would generate like this would be far out weighed by the hit to your business reputation.

Sadly when AS does this or when MD sells marked up new just out-of-print MoFi titles there isn’t much a vinyl buyer can do. They control such a large percentage of the premium audiophile vinyl market the buyer (or independent resellers for that matter) is at such a disadvantage that normal business practices become whatever the biggest decides they are.

And, I have preorders in at both of them. Great products, I want to buy them, and often direct is the best option. However, when I see stuff like this I don’t have to like it. 😖

Sorry for long post. A lot of pent up frustration going on in many markets right now with inflation, shortages, etc. I’m feeling it tonight.
Got worked up on Reddit about this. Everyone there said it’s better than Discogs, which is not a great excuse and they failed to see the point. Ugh.

Yeah “Boring German Dude” is a bit of a pejorative but I think it has to do more with his monotone delivery. I find his music information to be informative and insightful and that is usually all that I am looking for with YouTube videos of this nature.
I "was" fine living with my digital files of Blues Walk but Michael got me feelin for the BNC just came out so i't's on the local list now,.

No, that’s not what it’s called bc it’s made in Pakistan. There’s actual word for that. “Pakistani”
That was the name of them when the guy from Pakistan was making and selling them to the landcruiser guys. He may have even used it first. This goes way back in time though.

Has been called that on a global landcruiser forum for over a decade. 100s or 1000s of thread posts.
The term never even surfaced as offensive until today but it was intended to be in the context I was using it from a 4wd forum. Nothing offensive intended.

It’s a pejorative term that’s historically been used offensively initially towards Pakistani immigrant communities and later as a catch all for all South Asian immigrants. As an offensive term it’s always offensive and like other such pejoratives shouldn’t be used in any context.

I have no idea why that Sly is like that but…seems like a no brainer for those so inclined. Pairing with that Craft Violent Femmes that may or may not be KPG based on the thread here gets you a bit over the free shipping hump, though a lot does if there was an AP being looked at.

You live in a different country with different terms, but thanks for the unsolicited lecture.

While I was aware of its derogatory meaning (having devoured British culture over the years), I would say that most Americans would have no idea that it is a pejorative term as Pakistani communities are few and far between in this country and lack the cultural impact that they have in the UK.

Makes sense.
Not many UK people drive landcruisers either.
I'll ask one of my UK friends. He probably has some history on it.

True, but if someone explained to me why it was offensive I would apologize and not use the term again, instead of digging in my heels and getting snarky.

It’s this attitude I don’t care for. We have people from the UK, Norway, South America, and Australia on this forum. When someone says something may be considered offensive, then learn from it. @Joe Mac was only trying to educate as to why it may be considered offensive. Don’t be a jerk.
