Definitive Audiophile pressings

Also spinning Coltrane MFT this afternoon.
Reminder of how good the boom boom is.
I prefer the ST but the Mono is not what I would call flat.
It's pretty impressive IMO.

I got the two disk in a package for $25.
Another Rhino seriously underrated value this year.
Most Rhino pressings are underrated tbh. They get really good engineers to cut most of their reissues and aren’t paying licensing fees so they are all pretty cheap. The Talking Heads, Van Morrison, etc rhinos are all such great value.

Agreed, I'll go in blind with some of their Rocktober and Start Your Ear Off Right titles as they tend to sound great, for the most part.

Are they underrated? We've been pumping them up for a while in this thread anyway. Those Talking Heads are probably the cream of the crop, but there are so many great ones over the years. You should wait until you get a little pressing info since they never advertise it before hand, but that's not a big deal any more.

I've heard the VH is really well done.
Blakey/Monk is good too.

Anyone have this one?

Nice thing with the Rhino reissues is they are usually cheap so you can take a chance on them. Boom Boom has done a few lately

They seem underrated anytime I bring them up elsewhere. Mostly because they don’t advertise source or engineer but most of the time it’s one of the four horsemen. The ones @jamieanderson1968 posted are all really awesome (some are digital but sound great still)

I guess it's better for us if people don't know or believe it, LOL? They have so many gems hidden in each of their reissue campaigns. Reminds me I want to pick up that Aretha when I see it around.

LOL! but also that is kinda of point. 25 years of “I hate the fuckin’ Eagles man!” Maybe has caused many (myself included) to almost underrate The Eagles?
Hotel California is the last of the Eagles' records I paid much attention to, but their early stuff fit in well with everything else I was into at that time, and Hotel California was really unique in terms of concept and music when it was released. Or at least that's the impact it had on me at that time in my life. Also, in this day and age when communication is infinite and the world is relatively small, it could be hard to imagine that the fact this music was coming out of California added to its appeal for a lot of people, myself included, who had a completely idealized view of the freedom, hedonism, and romance awaiting us there. We all wanted to be running down that road trying to loosen our load.

I've got it. Super fun session. Vinyl itself sounds great. The tape source is a bit wonky - some weird hi end stuff particularly on the cymbals that gets better as the session goes on. I'm happy with it, it's a repeat listen for me already.
Glad to hear your feedback. I took a shot at a used $20 copy on Amazon. If it doesn't work out, then I'll grab the $27 new.

Is there any further information in the hype sticker in regards to mastering, tapes, etc...? The cogs page is pretty lacking.

I know I know... the Eagles are basically Yacht Rock as far as I'm concerned. I don't mind them in moderation. Probably the biggest knock is they were huge all the way into the early 90's around me so they were massively overplayed at the time. Kind of like The Doors to be honest, although that band doesn't garner the same response from me or most people. Probably oversimplifying, but I suspect the difference begins with one getting 70's AM gold airplay while the other was more AOR.
I’m literally reading this post while I’m listening to The Eagles on SiriusXM’s Yacht Rock channel

That depends - how many women are on your mind?
