Everything Video Games!

It can be nerve-wracking to think you may be missing NPCs or side quests, but for the first play through my philosophy is to just try to be thorough but accept I’ll miss stuff.
Oh I'm definitely not a completionist by any means, if I can complete something I try to, but if it's too much work/effort, etc. I'll pass it up. Especially on games like this where you have to be insanely good to do a lot of the achievements/trophies, etc. I just wish there was a little bit more guidance on what to do and where to go. I know it harkens back to the old days of video games not giving you any directions or beacons to follow, but even Morrowind held your hand more than Elden Ring does. I'm basically following the main quest and if I stumble upon something else that is a bonus. Maybe if I was playing it on a PC where I could keep a document easier, I would. But I'm on a console on my couch when I really don't want to take notes. Overall I like it, but it could be just a little bit more structured.

I'm stuck on how to use the Spinning Scythe move in Horizon Forbidden West.

I have been trying to complete the tutorial for it for an hour now and have yet to once activate it.

To use the move it says "R1 - R1 - Pause - R1 R1".

I do R1 RI wait a second or two R1 R1 but it always tells me "Wrong Input" and exits the tutorial for the second set of R1's.

What in the world am I doing wrong. The move goes off in the real world against machines no issue.
Not sure if you’re still stuck on this, but the spear will give a brief visual and audible queue when the pause condition has been met. It’s similar to what you see/hear when a weapon is overdrawn.

My biggest Elden Ring concern/gripe is the open world makes me worry I have or will burst into a friendly area and iced a friendly questgiver. I think it's unfounded as they make it pretty clear contextually and usually there are user messages. Though there was one friendly surrounded by "beware of boss/tough enemy" messages I found yesterday; I can't tell if it's a joke or if I befriended an optional boss.

You can't lock on to friendly NPCs, right? That's how I've been telling friend from foe so far.

Thanks for the tip. I'm still stuck on this and never get the brief visual and audible queue when in the tutorial / challenge. I do get it in regular game play though.

What in the world.

If you do happen to kill a quest-giver (like I did) there is a way to get forgiveness and bring them back.

That said, the game does not count all friendly NPC's as 'vital' so you can kill some and they're gone for good. Or so I've read.

Finally hopped on the hype train and started playing this year's hottest title: Vampire Survivors!

Seriously though, this game is addictive as hell, and a great buy at 3 dollars.

If you've never played, the best way I can describe it is that it is a top down rogue like that feels weirdly like an auto runner and a bullet hell. Uses assets so close to older Castelvania assets I'm scared they'll get sued. I say auto runner because all you do is control the movement, all attacks are automatic. You walk around and kill enemies, picking up experience crystals as you go. Level ups grant new or upgraded attacks and buffs, and there are boss enemies that when killed drop chests. The chests can have 1,3, or 5 power ups. When an item gets to a high enough level, and you have the other power ups that are required in some cases, the next chest you grab will upgrade it to a better item. The basic goal of the game is to survive for 30 minutes. The amount of stuff that can be on screen at any time gets to insane levels, and its highly satisfying when you can just blow through a massive wave or barely squeak by with your life.

I completed the main story in Horizon Forbidden West last night. Been putting it off for a few days and focusing up completing skills trees and updating my weapons and outfit.

Wow, the ending credits are nearly 40 minutes long. Great music though. I really want a soundtrack.

Almost got the platinum medal now. Just need to get the "upgraded every pouch type" and "defeated the enduring" medals now.

I'm really concerned about getting the "defeated the enduring" medal. I was only ever able to complete the first Melee Pit. The other 3 have me completely stuck. I can't complete the challenges.

For example, The Nora Warrior R1 R1 R1 R2 gives me "wrong input" every damn time just like the Spinning Scythe. There are 4 different Melee attacks I can't complete in Level 1 Tutorial and they are completely blocking me from being able to complete the challenges at 3 different Melee pits.

Its there a guide or walkthrough that might be able to help me. I don't understand why doing the exact moveset listed on the screen keeps resulting in "wrong input". It's so frustrating.

I jump back in to get the achievements whenever it's updated. It's a very satisfying game.

I showed a friend the game this morning and while we were watching the trailer it only showed 6 or so characters. Looks like they've been adding content regularly?

I lost a run last night at 29:14. I wasn't even mad because my first win was 100% because I got the Bloody Tear and heal tanked through the insanity. I had no healing on last nights build and was honestly surprised I lasted that long. Lots of lucky floor chickens keeping that one going

Yeah, every few weeks or so the creator adds a new item, character, area, changes something. They're pretty active.

Just got an email from the Sony PlayStation store about Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin dropping tomorrow. I had no idea this was being released this year and haven't heard any talk about it. I have only ever seen the name mentioned as other projects being worked on when looking up info as to when we can expect FFVII Remake Part II. Is Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin looking to be a dud or is it again I should look more into. I'm assuming the game is not one of the mainline releases, as it doesn't have a number?

It's a reimagining/update to the original Final Fantasy, but loosely so is my impression? Emphasizes modern combat in a satisfying way according to Gamespot (which gave it a solid 7). My partner did the first demo and had a ton of fun with the battle, though it was super tough. We skimmed through play throughs of subsequent demos, which felt like very odd excerpt choices and ended on very confusing notes.

There is a demo on PS store right now if you want to check it out. Same folks that made Nioh to give you an idea of combat/gameplay.

They updated Horizon Forbidden West so nothing is missable now. Everyone can get the platinum trophy now. If you missed scanning the machine during the final battle after the update the game will give you the trophy for "All machine types scanned" without needing to scan that machine.

Also in rumors, work has already started on the third Horizon game.

I noticed something strange that helped me get through all the Melee pit challenges.

Holding R1 does a quick swipe before energizing. If it hits the opponent you get "wrong input". I had turn around, and start to run away from the opponent before holding R1 and then as soon as it make it's charged noise turn back around and unleash.

Same thing with the R1 hold R2 for the jump off.

I don't know if turning away and start running to start the next move is the correct solution, but it worked for me. It still took many tries to pull off because if you didn't nail it absolutely perfectly timing wise you failed with "too late".
