Everything Video Games!

I found the Site of Grace I was looking for. I was close so many times. I never got to it because the soldiers always sounded the alarm and killed me in the past.

Now that I have leveling up. What are the most important attributes I would to focus on leveling up early in the game so I don't keep getting an ass whooping.
This is going to depend entirely on how you want to play. Want to do more magic? Mind and intelligence. Want to find with a sword and shield? Strength and dexterity. The world is your oyster!

Vitality will give you more health and Endurance will give you more stamina (which means more blocking and rolling) as well as let you wear heavier armor or have a heavier shield (if you want one).

Otherwise depends on what build you want to have or if you want to use some gear that requires it.

Anyone else as stupid as me and forget you could run? I didn't realize it until I got through Stormveil, haha.

How do you run? I haven't figured out how yet. It's not pressing down on L3 like it is in all the other games I have played to date.

Wife decided to surprise me with Elden Ring last night. I am ecstatic, but at the same time RIP to everything else I was playing. Got my character created, hit the obligatory death boss, and went through the tutorial. Is it just me, or is the tutorial boss a complete joke? I picked hero class and two handed the axe you start with, and killed the boss in like 3 hits. Someone had put a note before the room to try jump attack, which I did, and each one did nearly half the boss' health.

I think the one in the cave is pretty easy, but then the Tree Sentinel right outside pretty much kicked my ass about 50 times.

Now that I'm pretty OP for the midpoint of the game (like level 140) I'm hunting down field bosses that gave me grief earlier in the game. Somehow I still get killed really quickly by normal enemies the farther I get into the game, though I'm not the greatest/calmest player. I basically stand up, dance around, and yell when I'm fighting a boss, and am probably best termed an "educate button masher," meaning I know what controls to use, but swiftly forget them when in a panic.

I have gotten better about inadvertently jumping off my horse mid-battle, though.

It was late last night, so I only got to Santa after leaving the cave. Looking forward to an ass beating very soon!

I feel this in my bones.

I'm starting to level up. Did it 5 or os times now. But I still don't know what to do in this game. There doesn't appear to be any quests, just lonely wandering around and either being able to battle are being ushered a quick death if I'm in an area people say "I'm not supposed to be in yet".

Also, how do I call my horse. I have the whistle, but don't know how to access it. lol!

That's the game! lol if you want the main quests then follow the yellow glow coming off the poitns of grace, and you'll find them. Just enjoy the exploring.

Find the ring that the maiden gave you and add it to your quick inventory where your flasks are.

I'm also very over-leveled (116). I wanted to be stronger to face Rennala, but it was actually because my summon ashes were all only +1 that I kept dying. I figured out how to get Roderika to enhance them and then it was super easy. They would die immediately in that battle, but I got wolves to +5 and they pretty much did all the work for me in my first go. Now everything else is pretty easy, but I still get overwhelmed by lower leveled enemies if they come at me in a group. 1 on 1 I'm fine.

I was looking up what levels are suggested for certain regions and Caelid is around 50-60. That's insane. I can go anywhere in it fine, but still some enemies are really tough for me at 116. I can't imagine trying to get around at level 50. I'd die instantly.

I did discover a sword called Sword of Night and Flame that has made most boss fights a joke. It's extremely powerful. I normally don't use it as my primary weapon, but pull it out against big bosses when I'm struggling. I'm playing as a Confessor so it's a great weapon for a Faith build. I think it might have been Nerfed in the most recent update, but I managed to beat Radahn after the update using it. Took a good 1/6 of his health off with one hit.

I've had Elden Ring for a while now...I haven't really played it too much.

Mostly just rode my horse thing around.

I am ready for Tiny Tina's Wonderlands later today.

West Coast gets it at 4PM on PC.

I wouldn't recommended following the gold paths immediately, Stormveil is pretty hard and it think they take you straight there. I would wait until you are closer to level 30 or so. Explore around looking for dungeons (caves), ruins, and churches. There are a lot of these around and are good ways to level up and get better items. I think clearing most of Limgrave, then the area south of it before fully clearing Stormveil worked well for me. Of course some badasses can definitely beat it sooner.

The caves and dungeons I have found so far have been deadly. I can't battle and win against anything I find in them yet. And they always pop out nad blind side me with a hit that nearly takes me out before I'm ready to battle.

What level should I be at before really going into these. Also, if the user notes say "Boss ahead" I should probably go no further until I level up more?

I think you should be able to handle them as you get better at the combat, but try a different one if you think it might be easier. The expectation in these games is that you learn the enemies moveset and figure out how to get better at not getting hurt by them. Die and try again, etc.

In those dungeons usually the boss is behind a brown mist door or at least big doors you have to choose to push open, so you usually won't stumble upon a boss unknowingly in them.

That's kind of the game. You'll attack most enemies with 6-7 hits to kill them but they can get 1-3 and kill you easily. I'd recommend just finding a good spot in Limgrave where you can take on a few enemies easily near a site of grace. Kill a couple, get some runes, go back to site of grace, they respawn, repeat until you can level 5-10 levels. Then try those dungeons again. You'll get better at figuring out where the enemies are. Also find a bow if you don't already have one, that helped me significantly with reducing the number of enemies in groups I'd have to kill or dealing with tight spaces in dungeons by taking a few out, luring them away.

I may just be used to the soulsborne vibe, but Elden Ring does a really good job of letting you know the difference between "you're not ready for this" and "this is just really hard." Be okay with going into situations that appear hairy, just make sure you're not carrying too many runes. Unlike previous games, you're not stuck on a single path, so if something is more frustratingly-difficult than fun-challenging, just walk away and find something that is fun-challenging until you're a few levels higher.

I agree with this. Every game they've made incorporates death deeply into it's core. They actively encourage you to try new things when faced with adversity, which in all honesty, is around every corner. I got to first camp/ruins looking area near where the gold light tells you to go. Started as a great way to practice some stealth, but there's also an enemy that is much stronger than the rest and he kept destroying me. Could have been a frustrating moment, but I realized that I'm also trying the two handed thing right now, instead of the weapon and shield I'm used to. Dodging works a lot differently than blocking, and I took it as a good learning opportunity to practice dodging. I then realized I was hitting for a very low damage amount, and had gotten all the items I could find in the area, so I moved on for now. Went to the next area through a big opening in a wall and hit a giant with like 4 dudes shooting crossbow bolts at me. Dealing way more damage to the giant than the spear guy, so this seems like a good way to go. Now to figure out how to balance taking out the crossbows while keeping the giant at bay - I swear he gets a speed boost when you're not focused on him. Either way I know either path is doable, just one seems more suited to my current level (10 or 11, I know, I haven't played too much yet).

Easiest way is to lure the giant out away from the archers into the open field in front of the ruins.
I tried to do that on my last attempt last night, but was an idiot and stayed locked on, only to get stuck on the wall. Decided I was too tired to be effective so I went to bed.

Quick question, are there any non-boss enemies that die permanently like the black knights in Dark Souls 1, or should I just expect everything to come back?
