Everything Video Games!

Sorry, both Shredders Revenge and the Collection one that just came out recently.

I just saw your feedback on Shredder. Curious about the Cowabunga Collection.
Oh yes Cowabunga Collection!

I must have made up Pizza Party Pack in my mind.

I only briefly looked at it (brief enough to flub the name) but it looked like straight ports and not remasters or anything. I will say, the repetition of both the arcade and NES of the orig arcade game, and the arcade and SNES of Turtles in Time seems like padding. I'd probably just opt for the arcade versions. Although, if memory serves, the NES orig arcade had two extra levels. Also I don't remember the tournament fighters being especially good. I played Manhattan Proj as a kid but hardly remember how good or bad it was.

Started playing the new Last Of Us Part 1 last night. For me this is my first time playing this game, so it's a no brainer to buy the new PS5 remake. Enjoying the game so far. It is really good and hooks you in. I kind of hate how it will just be known forever by most as a "what was Sony thinking" for charging $70 for a 9 year old game when the remaster a remaster is already available for much less that plays in 4k on PS5's despite being a PS4 game.

I get it, you already have played the game, may have the remaster and $70 is not worth it for you. But for me, and others who are part of the next generation enjoying the game for the first time the much better next gen experience and better graphics of the true remake, (which is not a remaster / ps5 reskin as many are calling it...) is worth the $70 and is quite the enjoyable experience.

On another note, kind of glad I opted for the digital deluxe version over the firefly collectible edition. I kind of was regretting not getting it, but then I saw this and I'm happy with my decision. Just like records I'm scratching my head wondering "why in the world would they ship them packaged like that".

I played this game on PS4. Absolutely loved it. Finished it on ps5. It definitely pulls you into the story!

Speaking of Xenoblade, since I haven't played I need some expertise - how accurate is Dunkey's latest video?

I've played three Xenoblade games (Chronicles 1, X, and Chronicles 2) and can confirm that this is how they pretty much all are. Had enough ~10 hrs into each. They're for some people, but not me or Dunkey.

Finished the campaign of Powerwash Simulator. Just got one of the bonus levels to finish, then we are done.

We’ve had a busy couple of months, so this was exactly what we needed - a chill out, brainless but enjoyable experience. My wife and I ended up playing it together - taking turns on clearing a level, as they can take a while to finish.

Been neglecting my PS4 recently, especially as I’ve got the middle tier plus. Going to finish Stray, then work on a bit more of my backlog.

I'd probably be into them, just never got around to playing them. Dunkey is notoriously not an RPG fan, and this is far from the only game he's called out for these types of issues.

you will like this series (or at least i hope lol). i’ve read plenty of your backlog posts to deduce you’ll be fine with it. but yea, i think for xenoblade in particular, you have to look for positive reviews or videos, bc there’s barely a middle-ground stand on most videos ive seen, you either like this series or you downright hate it (even if you’ve played other jrpgs)

After hearing all the praise this game gets, then seeing this video, I really hope there's an option for Japanese voices...

memes aside, the European localization of this series is the biggest blessing in disguise in the history of video game translation and i will die on this hill. it works tremendously in xenoblade 2 as there are both British and American accents in tandum due to actual plot reasons. this is one aspect of the game that is completely lost on japanese

plus it’s still funny as hell at times

Xenoblade 3 continues to be my favorite of the series. Despite some goofiness, the story, setting, and characters are all clicking for me.

I’m still relatively early in the game (24h in, characters at level 27), but I wouldn’t be surprised if I agree with you by the time I finish my initial playthrough. The character designs are by very, very far the best of the series, and the battle system seems as good or better than XC2’s (I haven’t unlocked all the features yet). I like where the story is going but obviously can’t give a firm opinion until I get to the end.

My only minor complaint so far is that I’m still waiting for the soundtrack to pick up; the music has been one of the strongest features of the series, and I need some memorable tunes on this one!

100% agreed. It’s a fun feature and one of the series’ calling cards by now.

I'm playing the game in Japanese because it makes awkward script and performance choices easier to swallow, but I do find many of the English voice cast pretty charming.

I'm just at the beginning of Ch 5 after 54 hours. There have been some dips in quality regarding side quests, but I'm very into the main narrative and I kinda love the characters.

I will admit to finding the voices in XB1 a little jarring at first. They're very British. Not like BBC British but Bri'ish. 😅

But that soon grew into the charming aspect of the game punctuated by what is (so far) a fantastic story and setting.

70 hours into the game now and still having my jaw drop at these locations.

the word “water” will never be the same to me ever again lol

due to this and this

I love 7’s Let's press on and on and on after battles.
FIFY

Fiora is such an incredible character. Her story arc might be the main reason I rank XC1 above XC2. Going from “sweetheart sidekick” to “brutal death” to “wait a minute she’s not dead” to “your most badass playable character” was a fantastic journey.

(That said, I’d probably still rank Melia as my favorite XC1 because you have her for most of the game.)
