Gadzooks! Its the December Vinyl Spin Challenge Thread!

12/15 - My Little Pony – Hearth’s Warming Eve: This holiday episode focuses on the history of Equestria, and to quote @duke86fan is about “people not being assholes to one another and racial equality”. Play something designed to bring people together, or something about horses.

A good excuse to play this comp I recently purchased. There is power in a Union and the internationale are clearly meant to bring people together

@Jan, I feel like you need a santa hat. You want to borrow mine?

12/14 – A Christmas Story: Ralphie’s mom was so offended by the Leg Lamp / Major Award and what the neighbors would think that she ‘accidentally’ broke it. Play a record you suspect that your friends / family would ‘accidentally’ break, given the chance.

I think I’ve already told the story about how I had this poster personally signed by Kelly Clarkson when I worked for her label that said “You’re cute! Love, Kelly” and my wife haaaated it. It wasn’t even hung up, it sat in a poster tube in the closet and one day I came home and it was ripped and in the recycling. “The kids did that,” she insists. I believe her I guess.

Anyways, I didn’t feel like listening to Kelly Clarkson this morning. I’ve been playing this record just about every day since I received it, which is a rare thing in this house. So much so, that there have been comments, “This again?!” Yes, this again. It’s too good not to.

Nice! I just “claimed” this album as a generous offer from @YoHabloEspanol via the PIF thread based on your recommendation.

I played it a week or so ago when it showed up on that dude's year-end list, not sure how I feel about it yet, but it looks like a grower. But... that album art is AMAZING! That alone is going to make me come back to it.

Definitely a grower. The songs are long and the lyrics and melodies are sprawling, so it took repeated listens for me to truly appreciate it.

I'm streaming it again right now... love the spacious sound of the instruments - country-rock with an almost yacht rock recording quality to it. This is probably going to end up being one of these records I click with after the year-end lists come out, in the following year.

Have you explored the Silver Jews? The comparison is apt and the comp @Wes C. Attle used to sell me on the album.
