Hot Take/ Musical Confession Thread!

Little Caesars used to be my go-to. Now I won't order from any of the big chain pizza joints. The hole in the wall family owned "Italian" places are way better. Anything with a name like "Little Anthony's" or "Fabbiano's" gets my business.

I'm a foodie. One of my main hobbies and expenses is trying new foods. It's rare that I get chain fast food these days, but my wife gets Chick-fil-A cravings, as she literally went to school with the Truetts, so we swing by there and try and buy something from an LGBTQ+ artist to offset it. If it's late, I'm hungry, and nothing else is open I'll run by Wendy's, Taco Bell if it's REAL late.

One place I assume a lot of you don't have is Cook Out, that's our best post concert, late night fast food joint, but there's not one closer than 30 minutes for me. Any place you can get a corndog as a side item is alright in my books.

I worked at Little Caesar's for all my high school years and have probably eaten as much of it as the rest of you combined. Back then at least it could be good when we made it for ourselves, but definitely stay away from the Hot and Readys. (It also smoked Domino's—absolutely vile—and Pizza Pizza—Ontario cardboard chain—our two other options in my shitty small town.)

Growing up in Newfoundland the two big pizza chains were Pizza Delight and Pizza Experts (which I don't think exists anymore).

I agree. Our is Main Street Pizza, and it's our go-to. And we have a zillion choices here...
Dominos, Caesars, Jets, Hungry Howie's...all mostly skippable IMO.
But, when we want Detroit Style, we go to Buddy's, the original!

I haven't had McDonald's, Wendy's, BK, Taco Bell or any of those chains in so long, (over a decade I think) I'm a little afraid my body will just outright reject it.

They’re all F. They’re all shit. I’ll eat most drunk but I have one question to America?

Why? Why did you have to bring this shit over here? Why? Economic colonialism is the worst!

Pretty much down to pizza from the local Italian, curry from the local Indian and fish n chips as my take out!

Agree with @TenderLovingKiller® (we agree on something!!!!) that pho from a really good Vietnamese place is the best but it doesn’t feel like a take away becuade it’s good food, relatively healthy and is more something I’d pick up in town during the week for lunch than as a kinda treat takeaway.

Yep, I really like a little place called Pizza Platoon here. They have gf crust and cauliflower gf crust and are really serious about not letting anything contaminate anything else. The owner suffers from food allergies and is awesome about keeping everything uncontaminated.

If I am by my parents house it’s Fat Boys pizza for the gluten free win.

I have tried Dominoes gf, and I was okay one time but the second time, the pizza definitely was contaminated and it made me sick.

Beans on toast not doing it for you today?

Beans on toast is like a quick cheap lunch you make yourself when you’ve 15 minutes spare. It’s not something you’d buy from a takeaway.

Plus not ragging on American cuisine in general. I’m sure most of it is great in proper small places serving their regional cuisine and produce over there but face it, these shitty chains weren’t a gift to the world.

If I can avoid a trip to Taco Bell, I try. There are way better taco places but if I have no other options that are gluten free, I have to go with Taco Bell because I know I won’t get sick. I love Asian food but finding places that will make dishes without soy sauce ( yes, soy sauce has gluten in it) is hard. I found a Chinese place near my parents house that will do some dishes gf.

Indian is my absolute favourite takeaway food. But I’d doubt much of that is gf either. Certainly not what I’m ordering with all the naans lol! Like a pizza too but it’s got to be a proper Italian style one, just can’t do the domino’s or Pizza Hut style ones, give me heartburn and the sight of all that grease running off them…

Italian or seafood is probably my favourite restaurant food. One thing with living on a little island is that we have lots of very good seafood!

I do like a burrito but randomly lots of little local places sprung up selling Mexican food before any of the chains made it over. I’m not sure it’s 100% authentic but it sure tastes good!

I know, I know. I was just saying if given the option between a tin of beans on some bread or a couple of taco supremes from a drive-thru, I think I'd take the tacos.

I think we all agree that a small business does it better, or we'd rather cook ourselves.

Cook out is great.

Little Caesar’s competition was Pizza Pizza?

My brother and I always debate about Little Ceaser’s quality. In my opinion you are literally paying $5 for hot and ready pizza and you are getting the exact quality of food you should expect that to be. If you are expecting anything from a $5 hot and ready pizza than you need to readjust your expectations
Something about Little Caeser's always reminded me of the school cafeteria pizza from middle school.

Our favorite restaurant is a place called Coyote Kitchen in Boone. They have a separate kitchen for gf orders.

Indian and Thai are often gf.

Totally. That’s one of the joys of a big city, even being a bit out in a village/suburb, is just the sheer choice means that there’s always another option unless it is late and you’re drunk and then it’s all just about the fat…

As you go more rural you end up more driven to them, the options are great for eating out because it’s a tourist country still but pretty poor for any type of interesting foreign food or takeaway so end up in McDs or one of the chain pizza things and it’s inevitably disappointing!

We still occasionally frequent some of the local chains (Luigi's is our favorite) but pizza prices have gotten so expensive. I'd much rather spend $10 on a pizza at Little Caesars than $30-40 on one the same size at an independent chain.

Thst being said, we have a new place nearby called Delish Pizza. Price wise, it kind of bridges the gap between the two.

And then we do the build-your-own pizza places sometimes too (like Pieology or Pizza Rev). Our favorite is Mod Pizza where we normally split a pizza and a salad.
