I do best with a low carb, no sugar diet. I have always felt better when I stuck to a “Mediterranean diet” without wheat so I am not sure if I displayed signs of gluten sensitivity as early as my 20’s, but I know I run best without sugar and carbohydrate dense food. I usually eat a salad for lunch and have a vegetable side at dinner, as well as cooking with lots of veggies—onions, peppers, celery, garlic, tomatoes, etc. Then if I am being good, I will get some fruit for dessert, but sometimes I need chocolate.
