True but I don’t think there is an early 00s British indie band that I’d class as great. There is plenty of music from that era that I enjoy for what it is though.

Me and pink Floyd just aren’t to be I’m afraid...

Which makes it even worse because it was terrible! For every Nirvana there were 100 appealing acts. The only good it did was expunge hair metal which was worse.

Sadly, Britpop was the least interesting thing musically we were doing at that time. Jungle, Drum and Bass, Trip-Hop and Garage were all more artistically important IMO but of course, the public latched onto so-so Rock n Roll.

I like some of it well enough nowadays but I think largely for nostalgic reasons over any great merit.

I'm not a fan of any of the genres you mentioned but at least they were trying something new. 2000s britrock is a carbon copy of a carbon copy. Bland, boring, safe are the worst things you can be in music.

I like music that I enjoy. That’s my primary yardstick. Beyond that anything extra is a bonus.
