I’ve tended to agree with a lot of your opinions and we share a lot of musical tastes. However, based on this single statement...you’re trash. A bonfide dumpster fire.

So...in my early 20s I went through a heavy prog phase. It wasn’t the only thing I listened to. But a lot. Admittedly, too much. Old prog, new prog. I mean, if you’re listening to Spock’s Beard and The Flower King’s you’re dunzo.

With that said I will go to bat any day for Crim, Yes (specifically 2 albums), Soft Machine, and a couple of single albums.

It can be a ridiculous genre. But there are some masterpieces.

Also, IMO, PF is poorly labeled as prog.

Not in here to be fair. I’ve never clicked with their music, it’s not for me. I’ve never come across another band I’ve not liked with a set of patronising tools for fans who can’t possibly accept that someone who actually likes music might not like their precious Floyd and so feel the need to explain to me, as if I was 5, how it’s not that I don’t like them, it’s that I don’t understand them.

They can all go to hell, they’ve turned me from someone who was mildly indifferent to music that wasn’t for them to someone who now despises their precious overrated prog band!

My experience is that I’ve heard more of that about Pink Floyd by a ratio of about 10:1 and that’s fine to a point, we all like to jabber on about the things we love. I just find that more than fans of any other act I’ve encountered they just can’t possibly accept that you don’t like it.

Interesting, I'm that way with The Beatles ( I don't even dislike them I just can't pretend to like their entire body of work, they have a very lopsided discography imo)

And they have been a fixture of my life since before I remember and are the foundation of my music taste and I couldn’t imagine my life without their music. That said you do you and I wouldn’t push anything by them on you unless you wanted it!
