Incoming! The New Equipment Thread

American cars have a reputation over here for handling like broken shopping trolleys.
Ah, I thought you were talking about drivers.

Americans don't really like American cars either lol, so doubt you're gonna find many picking up their swords for GMC or whatever.

As in all things in life, I'm firmly in the pockets of Japanese engineering.

It’s probably most thought of your muscle cars tbh. Our sports cars tend to have a whole lot less power but are much more nimble. Have they gone out of fashion?

Generally prefer German cars tbh. Japanese cars are often either very boring or insane. Although for driving Italian and British cars are a whole heap of fun until you’re by the side of the road looking at smoke appearing from under the bonnet.

I’m all for boring. I miss my Corolla all the time. That thing just needed to be complimented once a year and it would run like a dream. The Subaru that replaced it was a money pit. Now I have the city pay millions of dollars to cart me around town (I don’t have a car and take the bus)

Seeing people try to park their enormous space ships into petite New England parking lots is always fun…until everyone starts honking

A Toyota Corolla is the worst car I’ve ever driven, by a distance. Equally more likely to survive a nuclear attack than a cockroach.

Handling and an ability to carry some speed around a tightish corner is definitely a huge plus over here, our country roads are narrow and windy!

Counter: I drove that thing up and down the coast many times, lived in the south, lived in the north, in the mountains, by the sea…handled pretty much everything but snow just fine. My definition of a good car is: drives, doesn’t break down; minimal cost of ownership. The Corolla was a dream. I miss her daily

I mean it’s a good piece of engineering and clearly a well made car that’s going to last. I kinda always want a bit more than just that in a car myself.

However, going up and down some windy coastal cliff side roads here its automatic gearbox had no idea what gear to be in, making me miss my then much smaller car with a clutch and manual. Whilst It handled ok it wasn’t exactly tight either. Also had no guts when I wanted to overtake anything on the bigger roads.

Also, on the topic of roads, we kinda get it because you fuckers put them all over the place here!
