A friend of mine is going to lend me his outgoing E.A.R Phono Classic. Excited to see how it compares to the Sutherland Insight!
That’s the phono stage I have on order! It’s called the phono box over here. Although I bought an MM one and SUT because supposedly the SUT built in to the MM/MC model is pretty basic.

It’s on back order, placed my order on 21/11 so hoping it’s going to be ready imminently!
Aren’t all SUTs pretty basic?
The stereophile review said getting the cheaper MM one and investing even the €600 difference in a dedicated SUT was a big jump. Obviously the better the SUT above that better again!

My comment referred to the basic construction of an SUT that doesn’t having any active parts and is quite simple. Core, wire and skill of the constructor dictates the performance quality - and price.

Luxman back in the house…. Just got it fired up after having some initial issues getting output from the A8. Like all Luxman products, it’s substantial.

Ok, possibly stupid question but... is that a DAC on top of another DAC?

The eversolo on top is a streamer with an inbuilt DAC. I’m guessing @Slimwhit33 is bypassing its internal DAC and connecting to the Luxman DAC by USB.
I have something similar planned longer term.

Agreed. I’d be surprised if I’m itching to keep it, although I’m curious about what introducing tubes in the chain is going to do for the sound upstream. Might end up being quite nice! Never heard any tube stuff before in my space.

They have the biggest impact with those small little gain tubes in things like this. I’m really excited to get mine and to hear what it sounds like in my system!
