It Could Get A Bit Messi In Here - The Football Thread.

Chicago tapped out early I believe. Not sure why Denver didn't progress further but Kansas City is a great selection. The United States owes a huge debt for the rise of soccer in the country to Lamar Hunt so it's great that Kansas City is getting some matches. And the two Texas venues makes me think Houston gets an opening round and JerryWorld gets the semis with the winner of the Houston bracket.

This part is the more wild aspect of the venues that got the matches over older grass pitches like the Cotton Bowl and Rose Bowl. But hey, we gotta have suites and domes in the summer.

The upgrades thing is interesting. I had read that SoFi was out because the field dimensions were too small for a regulation pitch and with all the field suites and stuff that it couldn't be expanded. Obviously that's wrong or they're going to find a way.

Same thing was said about Allegiant Stadium in Vegas. Now that would be a fun place to catch a few matches and then celebrate or drown your sorrows.

Last season was brutal. Not sure they’d Ben competitive in the mls. Lol

I’ve been watching the transfer or lack there of saga online. They are fucked going into next season. Like every year, they won’t sign who the manager wants.

I hate this whole transfer window circus with an utter passion. It drives me cuckoo, especially the people who are more interested in signings than the actual game and use phrases like “won the window” which makes me want to vomit. So I’ve kinda tuned out but they probably do need at least 2 midfielders and a versatile forward, a right back would be nice too if there’s still the funds.

Yea the Rose Bowl is nice, but it just sucks getting in and out of that place. And finding you car is murder.

SoFi is just down the freeway from me. I doubt I’ll be able to afford a game though.

I know we’ve passed on from the MLS/Apple TV deal. But I just listened to a podcast about it and it’s pretty sleeping to me. You get it free if you are a season ticket holder, no blackouts, and you can rewatch games.

I usually go to all the home games, but it will be nice to rewatch them with commentary. It adds a bit.

Also there is going to be MLS content review shows stuff like that. This is part of what I miss that leaves me just knowledge about my team only instead of being interested league wide.

They have to remove some suites or something like that. The cost of doing that makes sense when the look at how much they will make.

Arrowhead will probably see some upgrades, but it's still going to be steamy out there since it has no roof. The Dome in St. Louis is serviceable but outdated and no where near what would be needed to host matches.

I think it would be fun to fly into Chicago, take the train down to St. Louis then over to KC as a visitor. Three really fun cities with plenty to see and do. If money and time are no object.
In 94' they "Shut Off" the a/c in the Silverdome in Detroit during the US v SUI match. It was high 90's F and high humidity outside. One of the hottest days of my life, I must of chugged a gallon of water afterwards.

Will there be 3 or 5 subs in Q btw ?

Sports science is huge in football now, most nations will have plans for the heat.

When you get old and the arthritis sets in you will cherish the hot summers! 😊

Always park at a residents home near the RB. Much cheaper than the stadium lots, easier in/out, they watch your car during the proceedings and no one messes with them.

Sofi has shuttle service/satellite lots, last I heard the cheapest parking package was $60 for nfl for a Rams/Chargers game, Most pay closer to $100+!.

I wonder if tailgating will be allowed in 2026 or it will be stadium/city dependent.

Thank god I know the super secret free parking area for Dignity Health. Been parking there for years for free. It’s even got tree coverage for the post game necessities. Paying for parking would pretty much make going to game a no go for me.

I believe that consistent kickoff times are going to be a thing next year as well.
I feel like in the long run, this deal will help MLS, but I try to be a bit more optimistic when it comes to things like this.

Yea my drive to the stadium is about 40-60 minutes, which is not bad for LA.

I used to get the tram out to Old Trafford and walk back. Is just over 2 miles from Manchester city centre. When living there was usually in the city for pints or just meet up before/after the match. Since I’ve left train from parents or from airport drops you in the city centre regardless lol.
