Oh, the Japanese is definitely going to be better than the reissue....

Lucinda Williams "Car Wheels On A Gravel Road" (1998 Mercury; 2014 reissue)
Country - still very limited with what I like, but I eventually gravitated towards specific artists - and specific albums by them - where they do it their own way, like Lucinda here, Willie Nelson, Cash, Sturgill, Paul Cauten and Orville Peck, to mention a few.

One of my friends has had them stay at their house, so I've tagged along and hung out. Really good people and fun to be around. And the drummer Stephen Pitkin was in The Flashing Lights, which I found out while just chatting music with him. Their record Sweet Release is one of my favorite all time records.

Oh, that's awesome! I haven't seen them since 2007 but they were one of the highlights of the festival when I did. A buddy of mine nearly got to go on tour opening for them shortly after that, but sadly that fell through. One of these days I hope to catch them again (our touring schedules always seemed to be contradictory back when I was on the the road, other than that one festival in '07)

Right on! They're just a really fun band to see live. The music is upbeat, and they really enjoy playing.

Hardcore punk is something that took me a long time to get into. When the 90s wave of skate punk and pop punk hit, I was right into it. I also really dug stuff like The Clash and The Ramones, but hardcore took me much longer. In the late 90s I was a huge Henry Rollins fan, but just couldn't get into Black Flag. The past few years I've really started to enjoy "classic" hardcore, but still have a hard time with a lot of the contemporary stuff even though, on paper, it should be right up my alley!
