Yes!Got it. You interested if this guy hits me back, at some point, @stpaulbrowns?
Yes!
Have I mentioned how much I freaking love this N&G community?!
I own it and I absolutely love it. Essential Miles. Ferocious performances. I'm no audiophile and I know some feel some of his trumpet is a little distorted. But this is the only official release from his legendary lost quintet so if you like that period I'd jump on it.Does anyone here owns the 4LP Miles Davis Bootleg Series Vol. 2? It seems like quite a historic recording, but I'm wondering if anyone here cares to comment on the performances and the audio quality.

Yes, my pet peeve is not getting DVDs with such vinyl boxsets. Here's the Berlin concert for you to check out if you like the music or notYep it’s great if you like wild 70’s Miles, the performances were originally recorded fir radio broadcast so not too bad, but I’d also say that the CD version includes a DVD that’s not in the vinyl if these things matter, and the vinyl doesn’t sound that much better.

Speaking of Miles Davis bootlegs, if you don't own Vol 1 don't sleep on that either (for reasons I don't understand 1 and 2 are still available on vinyl but 3 and 4 aren't). Along with 2, volume 1 is quite possibly my favourite Miles release. His second great quintet in just smoking form. I love blasting this out loud when the missus is out!

And here's new fire from International Anthem:It has been my farewell post at VMP.
And yes, it’s really lovely.
By the way, Angel Bat Dawid’s album will finally get a vinyl release around September - I’m really looking forward to finally put this on the platter.
In case you’re missed the digital release:
It is an interesting set that I have too. But it's my least favourite and least played of the bootlegs as there's quite a lot of not much happening in it. When there is playing, it is fascinating. But if you like that quintet you have to get the first bootleg.Small world, I just put an order in for the Miles Davis - Freedom Jazz Dance (The Bootleg Series Vol. 5). Seems like an interesting collection of of takes and first takes on a lot of the songs covered on the Miles Smiles, Nefertiti, and Water Babies albums. Got it at a decent price as well, its a 3LP set and I paid £18.99 with a few quid postage on top.
Aimé par will.swales very much!!!
Mehldau is a genius.Cross post from the Run Out Groove thread:
Just saw that Run Out Groove is doing a 3 LP set of Brad Mehldau's Live in Tokyo. $45 USD, which seems high, but I love Mehldau and that set is one of my favourite jazz albums of the 2000s. If you also like solo piano jazz, it might be worth checking out:
