Never heard a single MOFI but struggle to believe there is a notable improvement on stuff that Speakers Corner or Pure Pleasure release as they sound Grade A to me. For us Europeans it’s a no brainier with the cost difference.

I also wasn’t clear in that reply @Dark Star Boogie - I have the SC Miles Smiles and that is included included in the Grade A category.

I think Pure Pleasure and Speakers Corner are more consistent than MoFi. Every single record I have from those two places sounds excellent. MoFi, some are awesome and others are just good.

Cheers to you both! Just bought one on discogs. Can’t wait to check it out. 👌

100% agree. I only have positive things to say about Speakers Corner or Pure Pleasure.

Attended a Jazz, Soul & Funk festival yesterday in London called 'Cross The Tracks'. It was a fantastic day with some equally fantastic music. Some of the acts I saw yesterday are ones I have been wanting to see perform for ages so it was a fantastic experience. Heres a few unedited iPhone snaps I took:

Maisha

The Comet Is Coming
5794

Nubya Garcia
5795

The Children of Zeus
5796

Joe Armon Jones & Maxwell Owin

Impromptu jam session featuring Ife Ogunjobi on trumpet.

Was desperate to go to that but my wife was working so I had to look after the kids. Such a great lineup.
What made it great was that it was such a low-key event. Whilst I was walking around I bumped (literally) into Shabaka Hutchings. Later on we were getting food and Joe Armon Jones was in front of us in the queue. You would never get that at Glastonbury :ROFLMAO:

Another wonderful reissue coming soon from Superior Viaduct.

I remember aware of this guy in the late 90's. He did some albums with the Knitting Factory label. I believe they were duos and trios with guitarists and electronic musicians. Same guy? He's a drummer right (youtube firewall).

Hey guys, I just discovered a local band which I thing is suuuuper talented. Honestly, It's probably one of the top 5 live jazz performances I've seen, and that's counting world class acts. The musicians have played with jazz greats like Charles Lloyd and Victor Wooten, and have performed in top jazz festivals around the world, yet they're based in Mexico City and perform here on a regular basis. They're about to hit the studio, but I thought I could share this live performance with y'all to see what you guys and gals think.

Unfortunately local acts like this one don't have much exposure, even they're super talented. I started a thread about pressing vinyl, because I've been thinking about helping this sort local of artists get their music on vinyl like @soulsteprecords does. I love this band, and I really hope I can get their music on wax, even if that means putting it out myself!

Not sure if this has been posted yet, but there are two new J-Jazz albums, from the Three Blind Mice label, up for pre-order:

Naosuke Miyamoto Sextet - Step !
George Otsuka Quintet - Physical Structure

Real powerful stuff right here. I'm so happy all these Japanese jazz albums are being reissued. I don't know if it's something in the water over there, but those Japanese really know what they are doing.

You can order through the label directly too, 5€ cheaper (don't know about shipping though).
