Jazz

Cant help with naming it I'm afraid but it sounds great.

I cant believe how many people are talking!
I know! I found it hard to watch. I thought, Bill needs to pull a Jeff Tweedy and stop playing until the room's quiet. I'm hoping the guy taping was just near several talkers at the bar and that the ambient noise wasn't really that loud.

This sucks. Really glad I got to see them on this tour.

yeah, me too. They were fantastic. Luckily we're getting them again in August, for two shows at Pickathon. A little more excited for that now.

New Miles Davis bootleg on its way, acc to Plosin. I'm likely to skip it though as I don't have any of his 80s stuff yet. Just bought Pangaea (1975 concert) on vinyl from Japan, and it is extraordinary - so good...

Another installment in the Bootleg Series (May 1, 2022)
After many stops and starts, the seventh set in the Miles Davis Bootleg Series will be released this fall. It will comprise unissued studio material from 1981-1984, plus the first official release of the full concert from Montreal's Théâtre St. Denis, parts of which were included on Decoy. In addition, the Montreal concert will be released separately on two LPs for Record Store Day.

Yeah, Pangaea and Agharta are must have's I think. I'll also be skipping this one though I think.

@Andy —finally made it home and got the TBM reissues in the mail! Luckily my neighbor picked them up from our porch since it was hot and rainy while we were away. I got all of them except for Misty and Girl Talk

Cleaned Blue City and am spinning it now. It’s excellent quality. Don’t have any other pressings to compare to but it’s very impressive sounding IMO. Cleaning the others now and am excited to give them a spin. I have a huge amount of records to clean and spin now from the UK and the records that I had waiting for me at home. Will be a fun few days!

This was a nice $10 local pickup today in VG++ condition. Recorded in Africa in 1980. AllMusic calls it Bebop, but it seems pretty Hard Bop to me. Straightforward and rock solid outing with nice sound quality. It’s my first anything w/ Al Cohn, Billy Mitchell, or Dolo Coker, and my 2nd w Frank Butler (other being Harold Land’s, “Harold in the Land of Jazz”).

Can you report back after you spin it? I didn't buy it since I have a minty original press but maybe I should if the sound is amazing.
Sound is amazing but definitely not the quietest vinyl I’ve bought. Needed two cleans which took most of the surface noise off. It’s very dirty and I had some ticking sounds top of Side C and D but outside of that it sounds phenomenal. Glad I picked it up

For @Andy and whoever else was curious, someone on Hoffman reached out to Craftman who confirmed that these releases are cut from the original master tapes and not digital.

Good to know for sure. I'd be slightly surprised if they were digital given the labels previous pressings & they do sound good.

There seems to be an assumption that if it doesn't say AAA, it must be digital, but I get the impression in Japan they generally don't stay either way.
