Found a used MOV pressing of Miles' Filles de Kilimanjaro in a comic books store for super cheap. Looks like it was never played and sounds amazing.

I got a question about the Bass sound for the musicians/audio engineers. The bass on this album sounds really well defined and dose t really have the sound of the room. Is this because it’s using a DI, is it something about the mic technique, or because they started isolating the bass in a booth? Did this bass sound start taking over in the 70’s-80’s?

It could also be close mic'ed and with isolation with baffles or it's own room from the other instruments. I would agree the 70's bass sound became more like this in many recordings.

Didn't realize that AS would be stocking it...almost bought it on bandcamp awhile back but was overseas shipping IIRC.

the short of it is a UK jazz label now has cheaper shipping to the US on some of their preorders. if you already purchased the albums mentioned, they will refund the difference in shipping.
