Jazz

Anyone familiar with this Miles Davis Japanese pressing series from 1981 called "Miles 25"? Can't find really anything on it. Just curious about the quality of the pressings?

I've got a Kilimanjaro from that series, pretty good

I could really use some recommendations. I'm still newer to Jazz and going to Newport on Saturday.
Any recommendations of any set I should catch? I'm definitely in for Jack DeJohnette.

I mean, this lineup is incredibly loaded!

Sat rec's: depending how the stages are split up at one time: Esperanza or Cecile for cool female vocals, Son's of Kemet (this is their final tour), Antonio Sanchez for masterclass drumming/percussion, Dejohnette, Joe Lovano's Tenor horn would be my choices.

Angélique Kidjo's Remain in Light album is incredible (it's a full cover of the Talking Heads album of the same name) - I imagine it would be worthwhile live as well!

and I second and third (etc.) all the previous recommendations

Thanks guys for the recommendations, going to dig in. Not going to Sunday so I'll miss her, (I'm aware I'm really late) but discovered Laufey last night and she is incredible.

I don't recall seeing this one mentioned, but know there are at least a few Ill Considered fans here.

Sure, it's six versions of the same song but there is definitely a lot of variance to it. Quite a nice start to the day.

Picked up a copy of this one.
Looks basically unplayed or very little play over the life.

All I can say is wow. You can actually pick up that 30th Street Studio sound.
The cymbals are life like. Miles Trumpet sound just carries with that big recording space.
It's crazy good. Would love to hear the 6 eye and 2 eye one day.
Supposedly the stereo copy did not get sorted until the 70s releases.

It's so real sounding. I think I found my end game on this one.
Completely different from my 2019 sony copy and the price difference is hardly worth talking about.
How crazy is that?
I love a good vinyl hunt. The old stuff is so good when you find it right.
