Jazz

yet another amazing album likely to be butchered by turd man and VBR....

Sonny Stitt cut around 100 albums during his prolific career, and four he made for Joe Fields’ Cobblestone and Muse labels in the early 70s are arguably the best: Tune-Up, Constellation, 12, and the Champ.
Yes! I have Constellation (og ‘72 Cobblestone), and i really dig it. I don’t know how it has 4.17 rating on Discogs! And it’s still cheap — an excellent value as noted by the commenter on Discogs.

Barry Harris, Sam Jones, Roy Brooks, and Stitt? Killer lineup

Anybody have any of the Souffle Continu releases? This upcoming Byard Lancaster box is intriguing to me but don’t own anything from the label. assuming they are digital cuts but no clue where they typically press or if they have anybody cut lacquers vs in house pressing plant cutting

boomboom.
Forgive my ignorance, are these the recordings that ultimately became the Workin', Steamin', etc. albums?

Thank you both
My semi-regular reminder that this boxset exists https://www.discogs.com/release/151...cle-The-Complete-Prestige-Recordings-19511956 and that it's super cheap and has all his Prestige stuff on it. I bought it a long time ago, and haven't felt tempted to get any of the individual albums. I guess some others might sound a bit better, and it's v bare bones in terms of packaging (no artwork, from memory no booklet apart from a paper sheet of which albums etc the songs are from) - but for bang for bucks, it's hard to beat.

not quite as cheap to get in the US but still good value! Around $140+ in the US for the set.

I just checked and I've had this in my Discogs wants list for awhile, lol.

I have this one: https://www.discogs.com/release/19282303-Malagasy-Gilson-Malagasy

It’s an in-house GZ cut as far as I can tell, but it sounds good and has no issues. It’s better than the VOD Kevin Reeves stuff for sure - maybe comparable to like the Real Gone or Superior Viaduct jazz stuff? Strut, too. I have a handful from those labels and like them pretty well
