July 2021 Vinyl Spin Challenge: Summer Breeze Makes Me Feel Fine

July 12 - By the time I get to Arizona
Play your favourite road trip album

Various Artists - Kickin' Presents Hi Tide Groove, DJ's Choice 1969-19881 (2020 Hi Records)
I don't really have a favorite road trip album. Road trips for us are usually for mixes and playlists. The mixes need to be catchy and engaging. So I decided to play a compilation album that would fit the bill. This one keeps the funk going and feels appropriate for a summer trip. Can't go wrong with some Al Green, Syl Johnson and Ann Peebles.

Hamilton - Original Broadway Cast Recording

I know this pick is a little unconventional but our family usually makes playlists for our roadtrips as well. This one however has been played on several 3+ hour roadtrips and definitely helps pass the time quickly!

Nice one

My mom has been visiting from Mississippi the last couple of days...today is the last day, so I'm planning to play catch-up tomorrow.

I am not sure what the situation is but @bdrummond was saying early this week over in the RSD 2021 thread that he had a lead on some Canadian copies of Quiet Kenny that were still available, might be worth exploring if you’re interested.
Just got around to this one:

Yeah, my local got late shipments of Quiet Kenny and I believe Chicago blues. Got in 14 copies of Quiet Kenny which sold out online within about an hour. It's weird how late they get things sometime...still waiting for them to get in Dexter Gordon's "One Flight Up" which they should've gotten ages ago. On the other hand I managed to pick up Mingus at Carnegie Hall about a month and a half before that was actually supposed to hit the shelves. People on discogs did not believe it when I put up a listing.

EDIT: Looks like today they just put up for sale Curtis Mayfield's "Curtis" 50th....which isn't supposed to hit the shelves until Friday.

Any (or all depending on the length) War On Drugs album is the correct answer here. It’s almost as if Adam Granduciel composes each song as he’s speeding through a barren desert or navigating a mountain pass or hugging the Pacific coast. No road trip would be replete without some WOD pounding through your car’s sound system.
