Day 20: Covid Record Store Day – play an RSD release or an artist that you would’ve supported today
Pavement - Live Europaturnén MCMXCVII
View attachment 52937

Limited release of 95 hand-numbered copies on red vinyl. Live Europaturnén MCMXCVII is a live album by Pavement, which was recorded at a concert in Cologne, Germany on August 15, 1997. The vinyl-only album was released as part of Record Store Day 2009. Although the record is a Matador Records release, it has no mention of a record label of any type anywhere on the album or sleeve. And though the album was recorded in Germany, all of the text on the back cover and labels is printed in Spanish. Very Pavement.

Day 20 - Ghosts of RSD Past

James Brown “Sho is Funky Down Here”

I don’t really do record store day because usually anything I want either sells out quickly or isn’t available at my local! I picked this up on sale a few weeks after record store day and am really happy I did! James Brown is an amazing artist but I’d never want to hang out with him as a person, it’s that thing of separating the art from the terrible person, it’s a constant struggle that I wish wasn’t a thing but here we are!

Day 19 - Love is All you Need

The War and Treaty - Healing Tide

Not only does it contain songs like:

Love Like There's No Tomorrow
Are You Ready to Love Me?
Hearts
and
Here is Where the Loving is At

But also, if you've ever seen them live you'll know how much love, positivity, and even ecstasy they exude. I was moved, one of my favorite shows in recent memory. Even the smaller gestures, like the way Tanya touches Michael on the arm mid-song demonstrated the love they have in their hearts for each other and it comes out beautifully in the music they give us.

And, we could probably all use a healing tide about now.

DAY 20 - RSD

I usually go into RSD with hopes of what I will find. And I don't make it a habit of impulse purchases.
But my gut told me this was something I would love.
It was right.

Now......... Biding my time until I can get my hands on the Guided By Voices and Team Dresch LP's this RSD.
Sadly knowing they may be out of reach.

Sunday (21) – Asia, play a record from an artist that hails from Asia

For today I play DNCE with their same titled album. At first glance you could think it's an odd choice, but their female guitarist JinJoo Lee is actually from South Korea. Lee taught herself to play guitar at the age of 12, to join her family's band as the guitarist. She moved to Los Angeles at 19, where she learned English and visited a Musicians Institute. She also has performed with Charlie XCX.

Linkin Park - Hybrid Theory

This one is a bit of a stretch, but Mike Shinoda's dad is Japanese-American and he discusses his Japanese heritage quite a bit. Plus I don't really think I have anything else that ties to Asia so this will have to do haha
