Movies

I had low expectations, but the new Texas Chainsaw Massacre didn't even meet those. It was boring.
For what it was, I didn't completely hate it. That's not me saying it was good though, just that it did the bare minimum of keeping me entertained for 80 minutes. Something to be said for a movie that's short and stupid enough to get itself over with without wasting too much of your time.

I know what you mean. I just wish it had a tiny more story development to it. But it's not the worst movie I've seen and I did watch the whole thing.

Licorice Pizza was really great! I was slightly unsure how to feel after just finishing it, but the more I thought about it the more I loved it. It’s not what I expected, it was much greater. Alana Haim is the best part of it all. But the scene with Bradley Cooper - that entire sequence - is incredible.

The French Dispatch is not one of my favorite Wes Anderson films, but it is a great film. I didn’t know if I would enjoy the vignette style, but I think it worked perfectly. There’s so much to look at and understand that I need to watch it again. But I loved it anyway. I just don’t get how some say this is his best, or best in years. I’m a fan who loved Moonrise Kingdom so what do I know?

Update: for whatever reason it suddenly decided to start working last night. 🤷‍♀️ I'm not gonna complain.

Anyways The Tragedy of Macbeth was really good! Probably not a surprise that a Coen brother directs one of the most visually stunning films I've seen recently. I'd like to give it a second watch with subtitles though.
Here's a great review of the movie written by Ethan Coen. Hilarious.

We enjoyed our rewatch of Licorice Pizza, ending was a bit meh, but good, fun movie.

French Dispatch was slow to grow on us, so we switched, but hopefully we will try again

Sorry to some of you in advanced. I finally got around to watching Lord of the rings. I don't know why I decided to attempt the extended version. I didn't realize the the immediate story doesn't wrap up after fellowship. I don't think I'd survive another 4 hours of this.

LOL! It’s alright, it’s definitely not for everyone. My SO thinks they are the most boring thing ever created and work as Ambien in movie form. I on the other hand love them and have watched the extended cuts on multiple occasions. You may just want to switch over to the theatrical release it would cut like 2+ hours combined of the two remaining movies.

The theatrical versions are where it's at. They're paced much better than the extended (which are fun in there own way). You may think you're not invested now, but by halfway through the 3rd movie you'll wonder when you started crying.

But don't worry, for the entire second half of the 3rd movie you'll just be thinking, "Okay, THIS scene has to be the end. No? Oh. Okay. Well then THIS scene has to be the end...."

The book does the same but even longer ..I think old Tolkein had a hard time saying goodbye to the fellowship ...

Books are even better if you've not read them ...I used to read them every five years prior to the movies ...now I’m a bit a lazier and bung the extended cuts on
