Another end of year catch-up surprise. Really liked Mariama Diallo's feature debut Master streaming now on Prime.
Haven't seen a whole lot of buzz around it, but it's a sharp examination of the haunting persistence of racism via microagressions and performative allyship via the psychological horror sub-genre.

If you haven't, throw on another Amazon release from this year's Sundance that deals with similar themes....Nanny

It's on my list (as well as the director's shorts on Criterion). Gotta catch Nanny before voting closes on Bloody Disgusting/Horror Queers's annual genre awards by the 31st.

Currently watching an "evil Santa" movie to fulfill their daily HQ Advent Calendar challenge, (went with the Dutch horror comedy Sint aka Saint) and I'll get back to my 2022 catch-up right after.

Gonna for sure catch Watcher, Nanny, A Wounded Fawn, Terrifier 2, Glass Onion and No Exit since they are available on my streaming subs. There's only 6 other nominees that I won't have seen since they are only VOD, but I might rent one or two if I feel it might sway my vote.

A Wounded Fawn is so good.

I also see Soft and Quiet on there, which is a def must-see, but only available on VOD rn, I think.
