Movies

I love this movie. In 1990, this kinda strange German family that lived in the same city in Ecuador lent me this, Three Stooges Around the World in 80 Days, and The Great Race on VHS when I got in a bad accident and was stuck in bed for a couple weeks. I think I watched them every single day till I got better and I still love all three so much.

I have never seen Cary Grant so wild lol

Killers of the Flower Moon: some issues with it structure/length wise, but pretty great. Career bests from all the leads. Extremely measured and thoughtful perspective from Marty, who is clearly the goat.

Personally, I think it's probably my 2nd favorite film of the decade (Aftersun being #1) and in the convo for the best film of Scorsese's career. The length was only felt on my end physically, not as a former editor, in the content.

It felt almost like a PTA film (who for the record, I might have ahead of Martin as a director). Most specifically, it reminded me of the Master in its tone and pacing. Obviously, it also has a lot in common with There Will Be Blood (and No Country) but it's a far quiter film than Blood. In its performences especially.

I do think that how people view the film will come down to whether they believe a man can simultaneously love someone and henious things to them and their family. Because if you don't, than the decision to center things from Leo's POV can be percieved as icky.

I don't have that issue though.

Yep, i found it more scary than i expected. Maybe i'm still traumatized from Hereditary but people staring at you with a creepy smile freaks me out lol
Definitely. It also shows how a strong lead can buoy a horror film. Sosie Bacon (of Kevin Bacon’s daughter fame) was great.

Hereditary obviously with Toni. That one was on another tier entirely.

She could have easily gotten an Oscar nom for that performance.
