Anyone else looking forward to the new Alien movie ? I’m really really hoping it delivers the goods - only been waiting since 1986 for a worthy addition to the 1st two
Based on Alvarez’s Evil Dead remake I’m scared it’ll be too gross for me; I love Alien but I avoided the series because the chest buster is so upsetting to me as a concept. I’m curious though.

I have the *exact same* concerns but a friend talked me into seeing it on full-scale laser IMAX at the Air and Space museum tomorrow night, so, uh, I'll report back.

Thoroughly enjoy Alvarez's work, both his Evil Dead remake and Don't Breathe excel at close-quarters gross out horror that's basically the sauce of the Alien franchise at its peak. Think this one will be a good time.

Same boat. I’ve seen some of the squickier horror flicks out there, ironically; The Thing is straight-up one of my favorite films, period.
Now I’m just thinking on how weird one’s reactions to film violence can be: I can chomp handfuls of popcorn while Jason mows through a yearbook’s worth of horny teens, but will hide under my seat at implied eye/nail torture.

Such a fantastic and hilarious meta movie.
I was a little disappointed when I first saw it because I think I was expecting something different from what I got and the hard shift towards comedy threw me off. Watching it again with a fresh set of eyes, I enjoyed it quite a bit more. If you just surrender yourself to the chaos, it's a very funny, outrageously good time. The satire is also a lot sharper than I feel like I originally gave it credit for. I find the bit where they poke fun at the hilariously dark Santa Claus monologue from the first movie very amusing.

Yeah, it just attacks everything, the entertainment industry, technology, the super rich moguls, and the Gremlins franchise itself with biting humor. It’s really amazing that Joe Dante was able to get this made. The Deadpool franchise probably owes a bit of debt to The New Batch.
