New Music Friday!

Any Sault fans out there, don't sleep on those 5 😲 new albums they dropped a couple days ago. Free to download on their website and only available for 5 days, so until Saturday Nov 5.

Still making my way through, but I really like "11" so far.

The bassline on 11's kickoff track "Glory" sounds like a vintage Busta Rhymes beat (circa When Disaster Strikes...) Killer riff!

Midway through this album, I'll be midway through the first listen of the five. Before this, I listened to Today & Tomorrow, which I really really liked, and Earth, which I liked less, but still quite a bit.

My favorites were 11, Today & Tomorrow, Untitled (God) in that order. I didn't get into Earth as much and AIIR is good but I'm less interested in the classical sound (as I wasn't with AIR).

Yeah, AIR and AIIR both haven't been my favourites at all.

Last two weeks. Still slow, I know.

🔥
  • Carla dal Forno - Come Around [woah! A meeting of worlds between Julee Cruise and Ekstasis-era Julia Holter?!?!? Sign 👏 Me 👏 Up 👏]
  • SAULT - 11 [enjoyed every song; one of the best in their catalog]
👍
  • Boldy James & Futurewave - Mr. Ten08 [consistency as expected, what else?]
  • Coco & Clair Clair - Sexy [one trip to zoomerville, please]
  • Ami Dang - The Living World's Demands [if you removed "Betting on the Bull," or replaced it with a better track, this would be in the top tier]
  • Joji - SMITHEREENS
  • R.A.P. Ferreira - 5 to the Eye with Stars
  • SAULT - (Untitled) GOD [could've cut some of the fat, but a lot to like here]
  • Sobs - Air Guitar [sweet, saccharine fun. A band that I would see if they dropped by Portland, for certain. Highly recommended for fans of Hatchie, soccer mommy, and Let's Eat Grandma! Might move to "🔥" eventually]
  • Indigo Sparke - Hysteria
🤷‍♂️
  • Big Joanie - Back Home [I thought I'd click with this one...but it didn't happen]
  • First Aid Kit - Palomino
  • SAULT - AIIR [more of AIR from earlier this year]
  • SAULT - Earth [just missed the "👍" tier]
👎
  • SAULT - Today & Tomorrow [what? Why? For SAULT, this is terrible. The first song "In The Beginning," a song that did not warrant its track length, was a good indicator of what was to come. A majority of the instrumentals last far too long]
🤮

None.

I loved Today & Tomorrow personally but more or less agree with the rest of your SAULT takes (I haven't gotten to Untitled yet, though)

One thing coming out tomorrow to add to @Bluecloud777 exhaustive list:

Loney Dear "Atlantis"

This is actually a live album, which is usually not my thing, but Loney Dear is one of those crazy creative musicians who does recreations of his music when he performs live. A couple tracks have been released from this already and they are just amazing. For those unfamiliar I'd stream his track Violent (one of his best), and then compare to his live rendition from Atlantis.

I remember going to see Of Montreal more than a decade ago, walking into the venue, and Loney Dear was opening. Totally mind blowing, and I instantly became a huge fan. Check him out!

Other top tracks in addition to Violent are Ignorant Boy, Beautiful Girl, Sum, Summers, The Meter Marks OK, Sinister In A State of Hope

Really interested in Sarathy Kowar and I have to know what Korean folk sounds like so Jambinai is on my radar for tomorrow.

Black Eyed Peas still puts out music?

*pulls album up on Spotify*
Oh Fergie is gone? Have they returned to form? Nicole Scherzinger, really? meh...

Oh, another I don't think was previously mentioned that I'm psyched to check out.

AKAI SOLO - Spirit Roaming

AKAI SOLO is on billy woods Backwoodz label, so this is for the hip hop aficionados, in particular indie rap aficionados, which might be the correct genre label, but I rarely have a grasp of what genres mean in reality.
