New Music Friday!

Jones is an actual contender for AOTY as is Isbell (this one would get listened to a lot more if Save the World didn't turn me into a babbling mess of tears, I've well documented my problem with Jones)... Dawid and Adjuah are in contention. Childers and Giddens are possible based on singles. We'll see what Russell has. It's a damn good year though, because Margo, McEntire, Young Fathers, Algiers would be contenders most other years.

Everything But The Girl – At Maida Vale

Digital-only release. It's on Apple Music as well, and I suspect any other streaming platform you happen to prefer...

The EP is made up of four tracks recorded in April at the BBC’s famous Maida Vale Studios - "Run A Red Light", "Single" and "When You Mess Up", were first broadcast on Gideon Coe’s BBC 6 Music show, whilst "Nothing Left To Lose" first heard on Jo Whiley’s BBC Radio 2 show.

All the recordings are versions of tracks on the band’s current album, Fuse, except "Single" which first appeared on their platinum 1996 album, Walking Wounded. The session was the only live performance that the band did around the release of their new album.

Pale Jay - Bewilderment

Um first impressions are this will take a couple listens to know how I feel about it. My wife asked me if I was playing it at the right speed. I should probably check, honestly.
Now that I have given it a listen at the right speed…. I like it. It didn’t blow me out of the water. It is probably (with Okonski) one of the more musically accomplished and interesting titles to come out of the Colemine camp. Heavy Aaron Frazier slow jam vibes through out. Production wise, it is very lush like anything Finnigan touches or those Kendra Morris records. Have a feeling it’s a grower.

This week I listened to a few new things. I really like the Florry.

I really like this:

And if you like Vince Gill's aw shucks delivery, then this is a good listen and Paul Franklin is a bad ass (it's nowhere near as good as Willie's tribute a few years ago):
