I’ll be interested to know what @Joe Mac thinks.Initial thoughts on the new Rhiannon Giddens… it’s a bit of mess. Is it possible that she was just too ambitious? It is also maddeningly overproduced. I do think almost all of it will be interesting to hear live/stripped down, like an acoustic version of the album might be amazing. I hope vinyl (waiting on my copy from nonesuch - what? I know they suck in terms of shipping, but I’m an addict and so are you!) makes it sound better. I will also say that it took me a while to warm up to Torrmow is my Turn so it’s possible it is a grower and I will feel differently after a few (hundred) listens.
I have no idea what Deyarmond Edison is but if my favorite Bon Iver album is their first one, will I dig this? Also Justin Vernon's old solo album "hazeltons", along with a whole Deyarmond Edison (his old band) backlog of albums were released on streaming services today. If you're looking for something nice to dig into.

Most likely. The first album on the box set on Spotify is damn near jam-bandy.I have no idea what Deyarmond Edison is but if my favorite Bon Iver album is their first one, will I dig this?

No idea what to listen to. Haven't tried anything new for three weeks. Anyone?
I really like her. But I feel on record she's struggled to find her tone fully on quite a few of her releases. I loved her last two albums. But I found this one rather underwhelming. Just too much going on, it kind of collapsed into incoherence for me.Initial thoughts on the new Rhiannon Giddens… it’s a bit of mess. Is it possible that she was just too ambitious?
