Dr. Dave - "Vanna Pick Me a Letter" - I don't know what to say about this record, I have no idea how it found its way into my collection and no idea how I still know all the words!!! It's a parody of The Box Tops song "The Letter" which I never knew until hearing the real version on one of those latenight informercials for like Sounds of the 70's or whatever! This song was MASSIVE in my pubic school probably because we didn't know any better and it was played on the top 40 AM radio station in the morning like 5 times an hour!!! We probably thought it was an original song by the hosts and because it's the 80's and not exactly the age of information they probably sold it as such!!! It's terrible, and I still watch Wheel of Fortune, I honestly think it's how my daughter is learning her letters!!

The most brilliant and amazing Sharon Jones is someone we lost too soon but we'll always have her amazing music and for a whole bunch of us the memories of watching this woman PERFORM!! I had the privilege to watch her work in many sized venues it many sized crowds and no matter what she gave EVERYTHING and the Dap-Kings never failed to keep up that energy! Pulled out this patriotic jam for all y'all down south to give you good vibes while getting out and voting... I'm sitting in a place that is full of a lot of people that probably wish they did the same a few months back as our most incompetent "leader" continues to show and prove just how inept he really is...

The death of Dave Brockie (Oderus Urungus) brought Michael Bishop back to the band and became the new character "Blothar The Berserker". Michael Bishop was the original Beefcake The Mighty.


They may be making another appearance in a few days.

Bjork takes having a vocals-only album in a whole new direction on this album. Glee would have never attempted this. And while not a commercial, this video of Bjork talking about her television is one of my favorite things.

It’s Election Day here in the USA. Play an album that inspires you to complete your civic duty.

Prior to the 2020 election, Jason promised to record a covers album of artists from Georgia if the state went blue. Lucky for a lot of reasons (this recording honestly being one of the least), both things happened and we got this fantastic album. He's promised the same for Texas this election so here's hoping Beto can pull it off! Jason definitely contributes in other ways, including this PSA from 2020.

The National are a very civically minded band, the band campaigned for Obama. They even made some “Mr. November” campaign shirts featuring the former President’s likeness.
