Political Discussion

I think there is a decent enthusiasm gap. Biden dropping out really changed a lot of people's desire to get involved. It's very close since 7 states control the entire fate of our nation and those states seem to be full of people who seem to have their head in the sand about what a 2nd Trump term would entail. I just don't have any faith in polls now so my hope is new voter signups and money are more of an indicator of the general feel. It all comes down to Pennsylvania, a state that has gone for Democrats for a long time. If she wins that, it's most likely she's president. I think the best thing is to stay vigilant. Even if she wins, the lawsuits will commence. My hope is she wins in such an overwhelming electoral college amount that it makes lawsuits worthless. This is what happens when you have a candidate who questions the legitimacy of voting unless they always come out the winner.
It’s rigged unless I win, while I actually rig it. There is massive voter fraud, yet when there is, it is ALWAYS in the complainer’s favor.

You would think people would go “wait a second?” But instead they buy the “it’s fake news and/or the deep state.”

How we feeling about the election almost 60 days out? I still feel like that Kamala is the underdog here and it will be super close either way.
Obviously things could change between now and then but at this point Harris has ran a near flawless campaign thus far she is on track to win. I feel like Biden-Trump woulda been razor thin but that Biden would have eked out a win as the blue wall woulda barely held. With Harris, I think she wins the blue wall states by enough that the electric is called on election night. She also carries Arizona and Nevada by thin margins and in the biggest shift Harris also manages to win North Carolina and Georgia (though I feel like there will be some BS funny business with GA that will take months to get sorted out but will ultimately show Kamala the winner.

I also think the Dems manage to barely hang on to the Senate with a 50-50 tie and Walz breaking a bunch of ties and the house control moves back to Democrats control.

The one I got said Trump will 'block birth control. end pornography, stop casual hook-up culture and restore trad marriage.' It also says Kamala will 'put an abortion clinic on every block.'

Speaking of using 'Kamala' - my SIL said she feels it's a bit disrespectful that she is referred to as Kamala, and the other candidates are all referred to using their surname, so I've been trying to use Harris more.

The math still shows easier electoral paths for Trump than for Harris.
I disagree. At this point she has many more paths to 270 than Trump. If Trump loses PA or NC or GA he is cooked. Theoretically, Harris could drop any of those single states and still secure enough EC votes to win the presidency, though I will concede that a lot of these regions are tied together. It’s fairly likely that if Harris loses PA she will also lose WI and/or MI as well and if she loses AZ she is more likely to lose NV and if she loses GA chances are good that she also lost NC but the same goes for Trump. That being said Harris only has to win the blue wall states to get to 270.

Wow, I just re-read one of the texts my wife's coworker received. It said that "a Christian woman would NEVER run for president" and that Harris "slept around and married late"
This shit is so effing gross...
The hilarious part is they think Trump is somehow more wholesome. These text almost feel like psy-ops to get the vote out for Harris. Like using the creepy freak/reality show Duggar family to promote your agenda feels designed to repulse.

Me too but it’s hard because I often feel like I’m the only one.

Im sure it is from a GOP PAC. We think the messages are harmful, their intended audience does not.
Yeah but I imagine this is only motivating to the people who are already voting for Trump, that's not the battle they would be focusing on. This messaging wouldn't go over with undecided female voters in the middle of Republican and Democrat, this messaging would likely scare the fuck out of them right into Kamala's hands.
