Political Discussion

Crazy. Trump got fewer votes in this election than he did in 2020 when he lost. He performed worse. Democrats could just not energize anyone to vote for them.

Where did you see this? Everything I saw Donald Trump got more votes than in 2020. Was this only in the battle ground states?

Trump over performed in rural counties across the board is what I have been seeing.

My wife is very upset this morning. She never thought Kamala would win due to misogyny and the media treating Kamala with needing to be perfect and not caring what Trump said. Sadly, she was right and I hate that for her. And that white women went so heavily for Trump is very disheartening to her. It's my daughter's 17th birthday and that was shitty news for her to wake up to. She worked at a local school yesterday as a poll worker. She really enjoyed it and was excited about what the election could bring. This morning, she gets to see the reality. We've told her that she and her sister need to look at colleges in blue states and that when they look for their post-college residence to make sure it is in a state that doesn't have abortion restrictions so that they can get comprehensive health care.

Kevin McCarthy just said Elon Musk is going to bring Green Energy into the government and said it as a positive thing for budget cuts.

This whole thing is weird. This is the first time I have heard any one in the GOP talk about Green Energy.

okay realized this is not with 100% reporting. Either way, If 2020 Biden ran he'd probably win. Everyone was not as excited for Kamala as it seemed.

My wife is really upset too. We don't have young ones, but her heart hurts for our young nieces and the LGBTQ members of our family. Mine does too, but she's taking this very hard. I can't provide any positivity for her just yet, I can only hope that so much of what we heard him say is hyperbole.

While I’m not leaving the Democratic Party I do think this is totally on Biden and the Democratic Party for totally ignoring Biden’s cognitive decline. Should have never run for reelection and should have had actual primaries. Democratic Party has a history of fucking everything up, they could lose a contest with themselves.

Even when he was winning in 2020, you could argue a business as usual was the last thing we actually needed. Then they let a coup attempt go unpunished. It was over then.

Locally in MA, here is how the ballot initiatives went.

The measure to allow the state auditor to audit the state legislature passed unanimously
The measure to eliminate the MCAS test as a requirement for graduation passed.
The measure to allow transportation workers, such as Uber to unionize looks like it will pass, but is still to close to call.
The measure to legalize psychedelics in a controlled and regulated manner did not pass.
The measure to raise the minimum wage for tipped workers to be the same as the state minimum wage did not pass.

Delusional to blame voters and not the one trying to earn their votes. Democrats are never going to learn.
Reminds me of another thing I heard last night from Chuck Todd.

For the last few election cycles all they pretty much have been running on is "not being Donald Trump".

They don't have any kind of movement or energized base behind them.

Voters in millions.
Ah, yes, that makes sense.

Yeah, everything I heard last night was Harris was under performing Biden by 5 or more points in lots of urban centers. So this makes sense.

And yeah, a 2020 Biden run may still have beat Trump.

The part I was questioning was Trump getting fewer votes than in 2020 when all the numbers were saying he was over performing in rural counties. Gaining a lot of new voters win Gen Z males and hispanics.
